Our ā€˜World Cup of Stationsā€™ posts reached over 35000+ people, we were on BBC radio and across multiple news papers too šŸ«Ø

There are 2,643 actively maintained Train Stations across the UK, and though we did not make it to the final 5, we did make it to the final 20!

A huge achievement for a small town tucked away in Devon. So THANK YOU for voting for Crediton Train Station; recognising and engaging with what we do.

Though we did not win, we are still here working to make equal access a reality for everyone. If this many people want to be a part of recognising Crediton Station in this competitionā€¦
surely this many people or more want to be a part of achieving a more equal and accessible world.

ā€¦so stay a while, share what we do, chat with us, and (maybe more importantly?) pop in for a cup of tea. Thank you for being a community we are proud to be a part of.

CREDITON
Crediton station is home to The Turning Tides Project CIC, which runs the popular Crediton Station Tea Rooms (pictured). The project works to make equal access to music, the arts and life a reality for people with 'learning disability' or 'autism' labels in Devon.

PAR
Par is a station where volunteering opens doors. Through gardening, customer service, ticket-office experience and passenger assistance, local people build confidence, skills and independenceā€”creating friendships, pathways to work and a sense that every contribution matters.

Crediton Railway Station has made it into the final 20 in the World Cup of Stations 2026! šŸŽ‰

But this is about so much more than a railway station.

The former station building, The Crediton Station Tea Rooms is home to The Turning Tides Project, and is open to everyone. Itā€™s a place that shows what happens when communities come together and equal access and inclusion becomes part of everyday life.

A few months ago, Luke first expressed an interest in giving Crossfit a go by popping me a quick WhatsApp message:

ā€œHi Dominic, Last night at the sports hour, I thought it was fun and good for me and the team games were awesome. Yes, I would like to do it again in a team, or one to oneā€

Since then, his progress has been really quite somethingā€¦

His confidence. His understanding of terminology. His continuous effort and consistency. His strength. His coordination. His balance. And, perhaps most importantly, a total belief in what he CAN do.

Luke has cerebral palsyā€¦ but whatever. This isnā€™t a story about ā€œimpairmentsā€. Itā€™s about his effort, his progress and what happens when you both believe ā€˜YOU CANā€™ consistently do something.

Wasnā€™t really sure what to write with this video.
But ultimately, for what itā€™s worth, I am proud of you, Luke. And youā€™re a joy to coach, and you should be proud of yourself too šŸ’ŖšŸ¼

59 years ago today, Ernesto ā€˜Cheā€™ Guevara was captured by the Bolivian military.

The following day, 9th October, he was executed.

Guevara is one of the most recognisable and controversial revolutionary figures of the 20th century; celebrated by some as a symbol of resistance, and condemned by others for his role in revolutionary violence and executions.

Whatever your view of him, his story raises an uncomfortable question about who gets to challenge the systems around them, and what happens when they do.

At The Turning Tides Project, we believe in challenging systems that create barriers that disable people.

Not changing Disabled People to fit the world - changing society so Disabled People belong as equals.

History is full of people who refused to accept that the way things are is the way things have to be.
