See this fabulous exhibition today as part of our Poetry Weekend events! Plus join Tony in the afternoon with performance poet Elvis McGonagall, they’ll be talking all things art, performance, public figures and how words do one job while pictures do another.

Tony Kerins’ original artwork, spanning fifty years of drawing the here and now, showcased in Room 14 at Sandy Hill Arts for our Poetry Weekend. The exhibition features Cask Strength by Elvis McGonagall, Tony’s latest collaboration with the performance poet, alongside fiction, documentary work and drawings of Bob Dylan at Earls Court in 1979.

Poetry Weekend is nearly here! We’ve got a jam-packed weekend of poetry, improvisation, art, music and delicious food, with a special variety night tomorrow evening.

Whether you’re a complete beginner or looking to build on your existing practice, these friendly courses are designed to help you develop confidence, explore new approaches and enjoy making art in a supportive environment.

Meet prize-winning poet Ruth Sharman this Sunday! 📝📢

Ruth will be joining us alongside fellow poet Stephen Boyce for a FREE reading and discussion!

Ruth is a freelance translator whose work has been published widely in national newspapers, magazines and anthologies, including Bloodaxe’s Staying Alive series of world poetry. She is the author of Birth of the Owl Butterflies and Scarlet Tiger. In 2019, she received a Society of Authors Foundation Grant to revisit South India, where she was born, and produce the poems for her third collection, Rain Tree, and she is currently working on a fourth!

Prize-winning poet Stephen Boyce joins us for Poetry Weekend this Sunday! 📝📢

Stephen will be joining us alongside fellow poet Ruth Sharman for a FREE reading and discussion! He will read from his new collection, Marnhull Solitudes, which evokes the natural spirit of Dorset’s countryside, and other recent work. Author of three previous collections and three pamphlets, Stephen is co-founder of Wi******er Poetry Festival, former chair of ArtfulScribe, and a resident of north Dorset.
