Award winning Double Act drama society needs your help! We are in dire need of a couple of men (30-50’ish) for our new interpretation of “The Cat and the Canary” on 18th to 21st November 2026. This has been written by Dougal Dixon (Wareham) based on the original 1922 play by John Willard – that invented so many melodramatic theatrical cliches with an estranged dysfunctional family meeting up for the reading of a will at midnight in an old dark house with a monster on the loose! What could possibly go wrong?
Whilst we strive to select plays that we think we can cast, on this occasion some promising leads (pardon the pun) failed to materialise and much time has already been spent on pre-production.
So is there anyone out there who would like to take the part of two of three male suitors, to the main female lead. Harold is brash & arrogant, Charlie is sociable & flamboyant – but, one of them turns out to be the villain – so fun to be had there.
We appreciate that you may be involved in other things at present and/or over the summer but we really would need you at reheasrals at Corfe Castle Village Hall on Sunday & Monday evenings from September onwards. If you could make a visit once or twice before the school holidays that would be a great bonus.
If you are interested please contact me (Pete) on 07551 183465 or [email protected]. As soon as possible would be wonderful.
Thank you for your time in reading this request and hopefully passing it on to anyone else you think might be interested.
Best regards
Pete Smith
