It was a very special surprise and an honour to receive the CVST Chair’s Celebrating Community Award at CVST’s AGM. Brenda Ellis and her remarkable team have always stood by us and our clients. At this time of heightened public feeling against us, based on mis and disinformation it’s even more special to hear somebody so publicly speak out against hate. 🧡

♿️ We’re appealing for wheelchair donations

Sadly, not all of our clients who are unable to walk are eligible for a manual wheelchair.

We’re reaching out to ask if anyone has a manual wheelchair that they no longer need and would be willing to donate.

If you have a manual wheelchair in good, safe working condition that you’d like to donate, please get in touch with us.

Please share this post to help us reach anyone who may be able to help.

In July, RAMA sadly lost a very dear friend and client, Nazli.

Nazli faced many years of serious health challenges, supported tirelessly by her devoted husband, Mustafa. After fleeing Turkey and seeking asylum in the UK, Nazli brought warmth, humour and kindness to everyone around her, including our RAMA community and cooking club.

Following her passing, Mustafa and his family are working to repatriate Nazli to Turkey so she can rest in peace. They are now £700 short of the cost.

Please consider donating or sharing this appeal to help Mustafa and his family during this incredibly difficult time.

Please mark donations “For Nazli”.

On Friday we had the absolute pleasure of another visit by our Patron Nick Butterworth , who brought with him a cloth bag full of books to be donated to our clients, some in other languages such as Vietnamese and Portuguese.

Nick’s books have been translated into 30 languages and Nick shared that he felt the ‘soft power’ of shared reading, when he thought about both Ukrainian and Russian children reading the same story in their respective countries.

Nick also gave us a huge poster of Percy the Parkkeeper and his woodland animal friends, with multiple partly-hidden items to be found; this will help to keep our younger visitors occupied when their parents are with our Caseworkers! Thank you Nick for your generous support.💙

These photos are from the Luma Art Jam session with Art Harbour, who created a warm and welcoming space for both adults and children, with help from our wonderful RAMA volunteers.

Everyone had a fantastic time, with a variety of creative activities on offer for all ages. We were also delighted to introduce our new children’s reading corner, which was a lovely addition to the day and enjoyed by many of our younger visitors.
