Stay safe folks

🌊 Knowing what to do can make all the difference.

If you spend time around rivers or open water, understanding how to stay safe, and how to respond in an emergency, is essential.

If someone is in trouble in the water:
πŸ“± Call 999 immediately
🚫 Don’t enter the water yourself
πŸ›Ÿ Try to help from the bank using something to reach or throw

Rivers can change quickly, and even strong swimmers can get into difficulty.
That’s why building awareness early matters.

Each year, we deliver hands‑on water safety sessions in schools, helping young people:
πŸ€” understand how rivers behave
πŸ‘€ recognise risks
πŸ›Ÿ and practise what to do if something goes wrong

These sessions are
βœ… practical
βœ… supportive
βœ… focused on building confidence around water

πŸ‘‰ If your school would like to take part, we still have limited availability for sessions, and we’d love to hear from you
βœ‰οΈ Drop us an email at [email protected]

At the start of Volunteers Week we'd like to say THANK YOU to the volunteers who worked with and alongside Waddow Hall Trust at Waddow in 2025/26. You were many and you selflessly gave 1000's of hours painting, gardening, serving, cleaning, donating, repairing and rebuilding. You were AWESOME!
Please continue to support Waddow Activity Centre by joining the database as a volunteer and responding to their direct requests for help.
Happy volunteering!

"Why Be A Volunteer?"

It's not for money, it's not for fame and it's not for any personal gain.
It's just for love of fellow man.
It's just to lend a helping hand.
It's just to give a tithe of self.
That's something you can't buy with wealth.
It's not the medals worn with pride.
It's just for that feeling deep inside.
It's that reward down in your heart.
It's feeling that you've been a part of helping others far and near.
That's what makes you a VOLUNTEER.

Tonight I met the lovely St Michael & St John Ladies Group in their meeting room in Clitheroe. I enjoyed sharing my presentation on the history of Waddow Hall from very early days to the current time. Thank you for being so responsive it was a pleasure to meet you all.

Please check what your children are up to. Water is so tempting, but also so dangerous.
