Win Clacton Airshow hospitality tickets and stay in the know with Tendring District Council
Find out what’s happening across Tendring, from local events to major updates, with Tendring District Council’s weekly e-newsletter.
To celebrate the newsletter, new and existing subscribers will be entered into a prize draw to win two Friday hospitality tickets for this year’s Clacton Airshow.
Taking place this summer on 27-28 August, the popular airshow features spectacular flying displays – including the RAF Red Arrows – along with a packed programme of seafront entertainment, making it one of the district’s highlight events.
Mark Stephenson, TDC Leader, said the newsletter was a great way for residents to stay connected with what’s happening in their area.
“We know people lead busy lives, and this newsletter is a simple way to stay informed about the things that matter most – from job opportunities and local events to council decisions and consultations,” Councillor Stephenson said.
“It’s also a chance to celebrate the fantastic things happening across our district, and to make sure residents don’t miss out on opportunities to get involved.
“I’d encourage everyone to sign up – and with a great prize like Clacton Airshow hospitality tickets on offer, there’s never been a better time to do so.”
The prize draw is open to both new and current subscribers, with the winner chosen at random based on subscribers signed up by 19 July, with regular reminders shared across council channels.
The tickets are for the hospitality area at Clacton Airshow, run by Black Jacket events, and include a two-course meal, welcome drink, and access to the VIP viewing area. Tickets retail at £65 each.

OVER 16 AND WANT TO GET INVOLVED IN ACTING -
Open auditions announced for The Crucible at Clacton’s Princes Theatre
The Princes Acting Centre has announced open auditions for its forthcoming production of Arthur Miller’s gripping classic The Crucible, which will be staged at Clacton’s Princes Theatre.
Directed by theatre practitioner and drama educator Melissa Wenn, the production will feature an adult cast alongside younger performers from Princes Youth Theatre in the children’s roles.
The show will be put on at the Tendring District Council-run (TDC) theatre from 29 to 31 October 2026.
Set during the Salem witch trials of 1692, The Crucible explores fear, suspicion and mass hysteria, and the devastating consequences for a community consumed by accusation and panic. Widely regarded as one of the greatest plays of the twentieth century, it remains as relevant and thought-provoking today as ever.
The production follows the launch of a new series of adult acting workshops led by Melissa earlier this year.
Since April, the sessions have attracted strong interest from adults across the area looking to rediscover a passion for theatre, build confidence and develop their acting skills in a supportive and creative environment.
Melissa said: “I have been absolutely amazed by the popularity of the adult acting workshops.
“It has highlighted a real need and enthusiasm for acting opportunities for adults locally.
“The response has been incredibly encouraging, and The Crucible felt like the perfect next step, a challenging, exciting and important play that offers fantastic opportunities for performers.”
Open auditions for The Crucible will take place at the Princes Theatre on Saturday, 20 June, 2026.
Anyone aged 16 and over is encouraged to audition, regardless of prior experience, with the Princes Acting Centre welcoming performers of all backgrounds and abilities.
Councillor Gary Scott, TDC’s Cabinet Member for Arts, Culture and Heritage, added: “The team at the Princes Acting Centre have worked tirelessly to bring this exciting opportunity to the stage, creating valuable opportunities for local performers and helping to raise aspirations across our community.
“We are incredibly proud of the talent and dedication within our council-run venue, and I would encourage anyone with an interest in performance to get involved and residents to support what promises to be a powerful and memorable production.”

Well tomorrow is the big day.
Please use your vote, If you don't vote then really you are voting for whoever wins whether you agree with them or not.

If you read the leaflet you will have seen that myself and Geeta are endorsing our fellow Independent councillor Mark Stephenson. He has already helped us to get things done in Cann Hall and his experience and advice as essex councillor for Clacton East (before the boundary changes) has been invaluable. With those changes Cann Hall is a new, though not unknown, area for him to be representing; so if he becomes our Essex County Councillor think how much more he could get done.

Oh, and if you haven't got around to putting your postal vote in the post you can drop it of at the polling station.
I'll be at Cann Hall school , so hopefully see some of you there. 🙂

After speaking to a few people I feel I need to post again that the upcoming election is for our ESSEX COUNTY COUNCILLOR.
Essex county council is repsonsible for our highways, footpaths, street lights, education, adult care, etc. it is all on their website.

Cann Hall ward is in the Clacton North Division and my fellow Independent Mark Stephenson is hoping for your vote.

HOWEVER YOU VOTE ON 7TH MAY IT WILL NOT CHANGE PARLIAMENT.

We need someone who will champion our area and work to get things done locally, not be more interested in the party than the people.

Vote wisely and for local issues, remember this is NOT a General Election we are not voting for an MP.

Hopefully see some of you on Thursday.

FREE BMX and SKATE JAM this half term

A free half term BMX and Skate Jam event is being held, giving attendees the chance to share their views on plans for a potential new £2million ride and play project.
Community skate experts Team Rubicon will host the event at Clacton Trax Skatepark – near Clacton Leisure Centre on Vista Road – featuring trick competitions and demonstrations from elite riders.
The event is suitable for all ages and will take place on Tuesday, 17 February, between 12pm and 4pm.
If the weather is poor, a scaled back version will be held indoors in the leisure centre sports hall.
Visitors will also be able to learn more about the Tendring District Council proposal to create a new pump track, learn to ride cycling area, bouldering zone, and play spaces at the leisure centre, all of which would be free to use.
New tennis and padel courts could also be included in the project.
Councillor Mick Barry, Portfolio Holder for Leisure & Public Realm, said: “We’re grateful to everyone who has taken the time to have their say since the plans were unveiled.
“It has been fantastic to hear so many people excited about the project as we are determined to make it a facility the whole community can enjoy.
“This BMX and Skate Jam is a great opportunity to have some free, half term fun, learn more about the project and give feedback on the plans.”
Full details about the scheme can be found at

Tendring District Council is working on a project to build a major new inclusive cycling, climbing and play facility at Clacton Leisure Centre.
