As someone who lives in Chinnor and runs a local business, I've always felt it's important to support the brilliant independent businesses we have right on our doorstep.

So this Christmas, I'm launching something a little different through Harris Consultancy…

The idea is simple: bring together businesses from Chinnor and the surrounding villages, showcase what they do, and give everyone another reason to shop, eat and spend locally this Christmas.

🛣️ CHINNOR ROAD RESURFACING - LOW-CARBON PILOT SCHEME 🌿

Exciting news for Chinnor! The B4445 is set to become a trailblazer for green road technology, as Oxfordshire County Council launches a pioneering low-carbon resurfacing pilot scheme right here in our village!

The project will use FIVE cutting-edge innovations together for the first time, expected to save over 30 tonnes of CO2 compared to conventional resurfacing — while also improving the road's durability and supporting local biodiversity. 🌱

⚠️ ROAD CLOSURE DATES TO NOTE:
📅 Phase 1: Mon 21 Sept – Fri 25 Sept (verge clearance & drainage prep)
📅 Phase 2: Mon 28 Sept – Fri 2 Oct (carriageway resurfacing & road markings)
📅 Phase 3: Mon 5 Oct – Wed 7 Oct (drainage improvements & verge reinstatement)

A signed diversion route will be in place throughout, and staff will be on hand to assist residents, pedestrians, cyclists and motorists.

Councillor Liz Leffman said: “This project represents an exciting opportunity to bring together several industry-leading innovations within a single scheme and better understand how they can help us reduce carbon emissions from highway maintenance.”

🛣️ Chinnor Road Gets a Green Makeover! 🌿

Big news for drivers travelling between Chinnor and Thame — the B4445 is currently undergoing a pioneering low-carbon resurfacing project that could save over 30 tonnes of CO₂! 🌍♻️

Oxfordshire County Council and highways contractor M Group have launched a groundbreaking trial using cutting-edge eco-friendly materials, including:
✅ Breedon's ACLA Net Zero Binder Course (low-carbon asphalt)
✅ Shell Cariphalte Ultra Carbon Sink Bitumen
✅ Thermal joint heating technology
✅ Cold-applied MMA road markings
✅ Solar-powered welfare cabins & electric plant
✅ A biodiversity enhancement programme

The work is happening in three phases with road closures in place:
📅 Phase 1: Mon 21 – Fri 25 September (verge clearance & drainage prep)
📅 Phase 2: Mon 28 Sep – Fri 2 Oct (carriageway resurfacing)
📅 Phase 3: Mon 5 – Wed 7 Oct (drainage & verge reinstatement)

That's the equivalent of taking several cars off the road for a year! 🚗💨
