🏘️ PLANNING CONTROVERSY IN CHINNOR: Nine New Homes Set for Approval Despite Local Objections

Controversial plans to build nine new homes on land to the rear of 87-89 Lower Icknield Way, Chinnor, are set to be approved β€” despite strong objections from neighbouring residents and Chinnor Parish Council.

South Oxfordshire District Council's planning committee debated the scheme on 12 August, with planning officers recommending approval.

Chinnor Parish Council raised serious concerns, stating:
❌ The scheme creates an "overly dense cluster of market-priced homes"
❌ The site is NOT included in the Chinnor Neighbourhood Plan for development
❌ It creates further traffic issues on the B4009 with no safe pedestrian or cycling facilities
❌ The development appears to have been split to avoid the requirement for affordable housing

Local residents also voiced frustration, with one noting the loss of wildlife β€” foxes, deer, rabbits, bats and badgers β€” due to years of relentless development in the area.

Planning officers, however, concluded the site falls within the settlement boundary and is in accordance with Development Plan policies.

What do you think? Should this development go ahead? Let us know in the comments πŸ‘‡

🏘️ PLANNING ALERT: Controversial Nine-Home Development in Chinnor Heads to Committee

Controversial plans to build nine new homes on land to the rear of 87-89 Lower Icknield Way, Chinnor are set to be debated at South Oxfordshire District Council’s planning committee on Wednesday 12th August.

Despite objections from five neighbouring residents and Chinnor Parish Council, planning officers have recommended the scheme for approval.

Chinnor Parish Council raised serious concerns, stating:
πŸ”΄ The scheme creates an β€œoverly dense cluster of market-priced homes”
πŸ”΄ The site is NOT included in the Chinnor Neighbourhood Plan for development
πŸ”΄ Traffic concerns on the B4009 with no safe pedestrian or cycling facilities
πŸ”΄ The development may have been split to avoid the requirement for affordable housing

Local residents have also voiced concerns about the impact on wildlife, road surfaces, and the character of the village β€” with one resident noting that foxes, deer, rabbits, bats, and badgers have already disappeared from the area due to years of relentless development.

The planning committee meeting takes place this Wednesday. If you have views on this development, now is the time to make your voice heard.

🚨 **PLEASE SIGN. PLEASE SHARE. MAKE YOUR VOICE HEARD.** 🚨

PC Andrew Harper went to work to protect the public and never came home.

Those responsible for his death should **not benefit from early release**.

This is about more than one case. It is about the message we send to every police officer who puts on a uniform, walks towards danger and risks their life to protect the rest of us.

Andrew’s family, friends, colleagues and the wider policing family have already endured more than anyone should have to.

**Over 700,000 people have already signed. Now we need to keep the pressure on.**

Share it with your friends.
Share it with your family.
Share it with your colleagues.
Share it into your local groups.

**Numbers matter. Public pressure matters.**

Let’s make this impossible to ignore.

πŸ’™ **For Andrew. For his family. For every officer who goes to work not knowing what they may face.**
