It is Volunteers Week and a BIG SHOUT OUT to all the volunteers who work so hard to maintain the Mill Lane Community Garden for the whole community to enjoy.

The garden will be open this weekend for The Great Big Green Week Open Days on Saturday 6 and Sunday 7 June 1-5pm - held in conjunction with Chinnor Open Gardens, Climate Action Oxfordshire and Community Action Groups.

Little Greens Gardening Club meet this Saturday 6 June : 11.15-12.15pm.

A BIG THANK YOU to COMMUNITY ACTION GROUPS for their grant which has enabled the garden to purchase several signs. Two of these signs are up - one near the hedgehog hole in the fence and one near the slowworm mat.

The garden will be open again this weekend from 1-5pm - please visit this community space. The roses are especially look good and smell divine!

Little Greens Gardening Club are not meeting this Saturday but will resume after the half term break on Saturday 6 May : 11.15-12.15pm.

The next big events is The Great Big Green Week Open Days on Saturday 6 and Sunday 7 June 1-5pm - held in conjunction with Chinnor Open Gardens, Climate Action Oxfordshire and Community Action Groups.

Little Greens Gardening Club were busy last week planting herbs in pots - mint, rosemary and basil - as well as protecting their plants especially from slubs with citrus peel, eggshell and coffee grounds. Little Greens meet this Saturday from 11.15-12.15pm. Due to half term school holidays Little Greens will not meet next Saturday - 30 May.

The garden will be open to the public on Saturdays and Sundays 1-5pm so you can view the progress. There are still plants left over from the Plant and Seed Swap. Thank you to all who supported the Plant & Seed Swap on Saturday afternoon - it was lovely to welcome people into the garden and have a chat about the progress the volunteers have made in the five years. Thank you to all those who came and swopped plants and who also donated plants.

There are some plants left over from the plant sale - especially jostaberries - and the garden will be open on Tuesday morning from 9:30am-12noon and again on Saturday morning if you would like to have a browse.

Little Greens Gardening Club were busy last week planting broad beans into their raised bed as well as planting onions in their patch. They also did a bug hunt sharing all their finds in a group - rest assured no bugs were harmed in this exercise! Little Greens meet this Saturday from 11.15-12.15pm.

Plant and Seed Swap : Saturday 16 May : 2-4pm - Come along and share seeds, plants and pots for donations - cash only.

A request to our neighbours : Please remove your cars from the right hand side of the carpark in front of the garden as that area is needed to erect a gazebo for the Plant and Seed Swop. Thank you for your understanding.

A BIG thank you to Sharon Morgan for her donation of plants for the Plant and Seed Swop on Saturday 16 May - 2-4pm. A variety of plants for cash donations or swops including jostaberries!

Little Greens Gardening Club were busy last week preparing their area with raking and hoeing the soil, then planting seeds - sugar peas, spring onions and carrots into their patch - and planting runner beans into small pots which have been in the greenhouse. Little Greens meet this Saturday from 11.15-12.15pm.

The garden had a lovely visit from the 3rd Chinnor Brownies on Thursday night and the volunteers had prepared activities : an introduction to butterflies; a plant hunt, biodiversity safari and planting a sunflower to take home and nurture. Hope they all enjoyed your visit and will visit again!

A BIG THANK YOU to Nic and his family for rescuing a hedgehog from his garden and donating it to the garden - the hedgehog was safely tucked up in our hedgehog house.

THANK YOU also to Marc for his donation of a large water butt for the garden - we need some rain to fill it up!

The Little Greens Gardening Group met last Saturday and worked with tools preparing the Little Greens Gardening Club plot for planting this week; they enjoyed a Garden Safari and planted potatoes in a bag! Little Greens meet this Saturday from 11.15-12.15pm.
