Our next Repair Cafe is on Saturday 20th June, 10am-1pm (all items need to be booked in by 12.15pm) at Chesterfield Baptist Church, Cross St S40 4ST.

We don't charge for repairs but we do ask for a donation which helps to cover the costs of running the Repair Cafe sessions. We are not able to undertake repairs to white goods or microwaves and to give everybody a fair chance we limit the number of items for sharpening to 2 per household.

We need more volunteers either to help with fixing or to become part of the admin/support rota. For more info about what's involved please email [email protected]

Our main goal at Repair Cafe continues to be to make stuff last longer. This reduces the amount of waste going to landfill, and also eliminates the carbon and cost associated with buying a replacement item. For more information see our website.

Fri 19 June, 10.30am – 12 noon: Nature book discussion - bring along a favourite book about nature, wildlife or wildlife-friendly gardening to share with others, or simply come along to listen and enjoy the garden.

We have a new Transition project based at the Scarsdale Health Centre Community Garden, off Newbold Road, S41 7PF. The project is called Small Urban Nature Space (SUNS).

Come along and find out more at a drop-in on Sat 13 June, 2 – 4pm:
See the new pollinator-friendly raised beds and find out more about the project. Please note, this is an outdoor event with outdoor seating only, so bring your own drink, hat and sunscreen if needed. No booking required. Enquiries: [email protected]

Fri 19 June, 10.30am – 12 noon: Nature book discussion - bring along a favourite book about nature, wildlife or wildlife-friendly gardening to share with others, or simply come along to listen and enjoy the garden.

Sat 27 June, 2 – 4pm: Nature journaling in the garden. A relaxed opportunity to observe pollinators, plants and wildlife through sketching, writing or quiet observation. No artistic experience needed and some basic materials will be provided.

Our friends at Don Catchment Rivers Trust are pulling up the invasive w**d, Himalayan Balsam, on Emmett Carr Brook near Renishaw on Tuesday 2nd June. If you want to volunteer to help see further details below.

Join us for a rewarding morning tackling Himalayan Balsam along the Emmett Carr Brook near Renishaw! Clearing this invasive plant helps native wildflowers thrive, strengthening riverbanks, boosting wildlife habitats and slowing flood flows. Plus, it is oddly satisfying pulling them out! Expect some great pops and squelches as we snap and stomp on the stems to stop them growing back. Come along and get involved on either the 2nd or 11th of June. Visitors to Chesterfield Library from Friday afternoon next week will be able to see what the wonderfully creative Clothes-Wise team have been up to recently. There will also be a stand with lots of information about Transition Chesterfield projects and exciting new ventures.

SAVE THE DATE - Crafters Bazaar Sunday 23rd August 2026

Crafters Bazaar is back for the fifth year in 2026, on Sunday 23rd August (10am to 4pm). If you haven’t heard about Crafters Bazaar before, it is a market for local artists and crafters to sell on their surplus art and crafting supplies. A chance to go through your stash and move things on to other people rather than hoarding it or worse, sending it to landfill!

Bookings for stalls will open on Monday 8th June. We will issue further information in June to let you know how to book a stall.

Transition Chesterfield Quarterly meeting

Join us for our regular meeting. We’ll be discussing developments regarding various projects including the new SUNS Scarsdale Garden project, Chesterfield Allotment Society and Library of Things.
