Hi All,

A quick reminder that this Thursday we welcome to CPS Paul O'Flanagan who will be giving his presentation 'The Creativity Toolbox'.
This will no doubt be a fascinating evening...

Paul says…
‘I have a lot to say and show on my abstract photography. This will include 28 tools and over 30 different styles.
I will go deeper and talk about levels of creativity, the creative spiral and dealing with creative failure.
Because I provide a large amount of ideas and material I will provide a summary handout to help with brain fatigue!’

As usual,meet at 7.15pm for a 7.30pm start. St Thomas community centre on Chatsworth Road.

Just a quick reminder that next Thursday we welcome Pip (Phillip) Atkins for a hands‑on practical evening.

Pip is a superb gentleman character model with bags of personality, offering a wide range of photographic possibilities. For anyone who hasn’t worked with him before, you’re in for something special.

As usual, we meet at 7.15pm for a 7.30pm start at St. Thomas’.

Please bring your cameras, memory cards, fully charged batteries, and any props that might add to your images.

A quick reminder that this Thursday we have our first club competition of the season.

This is an Open theme projected digital image competition, judged by Phil Newman from Bolsover.

A great night yesterday having fun with fruit and veggies. Some excellent images here from Marj Freeston showing what can be done with a little imagination, some backgrounds and lighting. If you fancy having a go why not pop in next Thursday and say hello to see what our next challenge might be.

This week at CPS we are back for our winter/spring varied program of weekly meetings. New members are very welcome, all levels of experience welcome all you need is to enjoy your photography! We are a friendly helpful bunch and look forward to meeting you.

On Thursday we welcome a colourful cast of models for our Still Life Fruit & Veg photography workshop.

We’re hoping for appearances from Andy the apple, Colin the carrot, Olive the orange and plenty more of their ‘five‑a‑day’ friends. Feel free to bring along your own props — we’ll take care of the lighting.

As usual, 7.15pm for a 7.30pm start at St. Thomas’ community centre on Chatsworth Road opposite the Vauxhall dealership.

Hopefully you had a chance to see our exhibition at Pleasley Pit over the last few weeks. The exhibition has now closed but here are some pictures which show the work on display.

We are now preparing for our upcoming winter season back at StThomas community centre on Chatsworth Road. We start on the first Thursday in September so do think about coming along and saying hi. We have plenty of entertaining and creative ideas for the weeks right through to May.

Hi everyone, we have now installed our photographic display at Pleasley Pit, and it’s available to view until 31st July.

The exhibition is in the Visitor Centre, which is open 9.30 am–2 pm on weekdays and 9.30 am–4 pm at weekends.

If you’ve never visited Pleasley Pit before, it’s well worth the trip. The nature reserve offers several lovely walks, and there are excellent photo opportunities around the old winding wheels and pit buildings.

Hopufully you will all be able to pay a vist before the month end.

This Thursday we’re in for a real treat: a rare lecture from Derbyshire-based photographer James Mills, widely acclaimed for his atmospheric woodland landscapes of the Peak District.

James will also be showing the striking imagery he created when he moved into light‑painting the landscape — work recently featured in major spreads in both Canon EOS and Outdoor Photography magazines.

As usual, 7.15 pm for a 7.30 pm start at St Thomas’. Guests welcome, small charge of £3.
