This Thursday we’re in for a real treat: a rare lecture from Derbyshire-based photographer James Mills, widely acclaimed for his atmospheric woodland landscapes of the Peak District.

James will also be showing the striking imagery he created when he moved into light‑painting the landscape — work recently featured in major spreads in both Canon EOS and Outdoor Photography magazines.

As usual, 7.15 pm for a 7.30 pm start at St Thomas’. Guests welcome, small charge of £3.

This Thursday we are having a look at members “panels”. These are panels made up of images (usually 3 or 4) on a common theme. The images should compliment each other in terms of composition, subject and colour (or black and white!). A key element is to get the subject in the images to face into the centre which draws the eye into the panel rather than facing outwards. Bit of a challenge but a great way to match up images. Some examples attached but you will need to open the full image to see the panel.

This Thursday we have our print competition on the theme of “long exposure “. Always a good night to view photos properly in print. Bit of a challenging theme so we shall see what interpretations the judge has to consider. Visitors very welcome.

A quick reminder that this coming Thursday we welcome back to CPS the 'Dapper Duo' for a practical photography session.
This time around, they will be masquerading as a Policeman and suffragette. We'll have various setups for you to photograph them in — just remember to bring your cameras, memory cards and charged batteries.

On Thursday we welcome back to CPS Stephen Elliott who was last with us in November last year when he shared with us some of his Landscape Images.

This time around Stephen will give us a presentation on Light Painting, something a little different to his landscape photography.

As usual, 7.15pm for a 7.30pm start at St.Thomas'.
