Yesterday, I met with the Commonwealth War Graves Commission at Staveley Cemetery.
What many people don’t realise is that cemeteries across the country, including in North East Derbyshire, often contain a small area of graves for those who died in the World Wars and in later conflicts.
At Staveley, there are 26 war graves from the First and Second World Wars. These sites are cared for by dedicated teams who work tirelessly to ensure they are properly maintained and never forgotten. This team includes volunteers so if you'd be interested in learning how you can be involved, then please visit: https://www.cwgc.org/our-work/volunteer/
Thank you for meeting with me to discuss the important work you do in preserving the memory of those from North East Derbyshire who gave their lives.
