More about Chepstow Development Forum
The purpose of this page is to bring the proposed development for 200 new homes on land at the Bayfields by Barratts to your attention so that you can choose whether to comment on the planning application.
The impact from this development, as with all other local developments, will affect the whole town through the creation of yet more traffic and the associated reduction in air quality. A further increase in population will also place more strain on our limited healthcare and education facilities.
You may be aware that the air pollutants in Chepstow, particularly in the Hardwick Hill area, exceed limits set by the World Health Organisation. The clear majority of new traffic created for all these commuters’ developments (advertising is heaviest in the Bristol area) will need to pass through High Beech roundabout, causing increased queues from all directions.
Every individual voice counts, and community will must be considered in the planning process. Some of you may be aware that there is a history of previous development opportunities being refused for this land, on account of it encroaching on the Wye Valley AONB, a prime attractor of tourism and business to our region.
