Ki Aikido Patchway, Bristol In the Art of Ki Aikido there is no aggression, tension or competition.

Classes are suitable for all levels of fitness and may be practised equally by men and women of any size or ability.

Do not hesitate to train with the beginner.
Do not dismiss the wealth of learning opportunity here.

Beginners will reveal (innocently) the flaws in our technique. Since they do not know ‘the dance’ or what to expect, our movement must be authentic.
First create a receptive kamae.

We must connect and blend correctly (without man-handling which may cause fear).
We must honestly harness this new energy (non-insistently so uke will not pull back) throughout the technique.
And we must take balance and throw (while holding and supporting uke up) so the ‘ease’ of the fall is revealed.

We learn to control our own bodies so that we can learn to control another…
Learn from the beginning student.
