We are proud to be working with Steve Davies, Military Grave Restorer, to deliver a series of hands-on grave restoration workshops across the UK.

These are not just workshops.

Each event is an opportunity to help restore the grave of a Victoria Cross Sapper.

Real people, real stories, and a chance to play a small part in preserving their legacy.

From the Crimea to Rorke’s Drift, each location is tied to an act of extraordinary bravery:

• Aberdeen, restoring the grave of John Perie VC (Crimea, 1855)

Most people don’t realise what a few everyday purchases can actually do.

It might not feel like much.

But together, it adds up to moments like these:

• Helping a veteran regain independence through vital home adaptations and equipment
• Supporting a serving soldier through one of the most difficult periods of family life
• Preventing a Sapper family from falling into long-term financial hardship
• Funding counselling that rebuilds confidence and helps veterans get back on their feet

These are not big campaigns or one-off appeals.

They are the result of consistent, everyday support from people like you.

That’s exactly where Easyfundraising comes in.

Every time you shop online, brands donate a small percentage to The Sapper Charity. It costs you nothing. But collectively, it helps us deliver life-changing support right across the Sapper community.

And we see the impact every single day.

Because behind every donation is something real.
A family under pressure.
A veteran rebuilding.
A Sapper finding their feet again.

It takes less than a minute to sign up. But the difference it makes can last a lifetime.

There’s no such thing as an awkward position… just another job getting done properly.

This Volunteers’ Week, we’re celebrating the volunteers who quite literally go above, below, and into whatever space is needed to support the Sapper family.

From those getting stuck into painting projects in the tightest of spots, to our dedicated branch members who give up their time to support their community and look after their fellow Sappers, you keep everything moving, often without fuss and always with purpose.

Thank you for everything you do (and for getting into places the rest of us would avoid).

A real privilege for members of the Sapper Charity team to attend The Chelsea Pensioners, Royal Hospital Chelsea for the Governor’s R***e on Tuesday, alongside REA members and serving Sappers, ahead of today’s Founder’s Day.

Founded over 300 years ago by King Charles II, the Royal Hospital was established to provide a home and lifelong care for soldiers “broken by age and war”, a powerful reminder that our responsibility to those who serve does not end when their service does.

That principle sits at the very heart of what we do at The Sapper Charity.

The Governor’s R***e, the full ceremonial rehearsal for Founder’s Day, brings that commitment to life. With Chelsea Pensioners on parade in their scarlet coats, it is a visible reminder of a lifetime of service, and the importance of community, dignity and ongoing support in later life.

To witness it alongside serving Sappers, veterans and supporters of the Corps was genuinely humbling and a powerful reflection of the continuum we exist within as a charity: supporting Sappers at every stage of life.

With Founder’s Day taking place earlier today, we are reminded why our work matters, ensuring that no Sapper is ever left behind.

A big thank you to KNDS UK for hosting the Royal Engineers Association this week.

In particular, thank you to Mark Keane and Emma Livingstone for being such excellent hosts and for making the day run so smoothly from start to finish, it was greatly appreciated by all who attended.

We are also extremely grateful to the wider KNDS team, especially the product specialists who guided us around the factory floor and took the time to share their knowledge. It was fascinating to hear more about the equipment currently in production.

The visit brought together REA members from across the UK, alongside members currently serving in 32 Engineer Regiment, Corps of Royal Engineers, making it a great opportunity to connect the Sapper community across generations.

It was a real privilege to see British manufacturing excellence up close, and a rare chance to witness cutting-edge military engineering capability in production.

We will be sharing more from the day very soon.
