The Sapper Charity | Lifelong support for the Sapper Family Its name was changed to the Royal Engineers Association in 1952.

The Royal Engineers Association was formed under the conditions of a Deed of Declaration of Trust by the amalgamation of the original Royal Engineers Association and the Royal Engineers Benevolent Fund Ltd on 19 November 1968. The original Royal Engineers Association was founded in 1912 under the name of The Royal Engineers Old Comrades Association.

🇫🇷 Arromanches 2026 | Preserving our heritage. Strengthening our Sapper Family.

A couple of weeks on, we’re looking back at our recent vehicle restoration event in Arromanches, Normandy, where 17 serving and veteran members of the Corps of Royal Engineers came together for a week of restoration, remembrance and comradeship.

Working alongside the Musée du Débarquement - Arromanches, and supported by the Royal Engineers Association – The Sapper Charity, the team dedicated their time and skills to preserving an important collection of military vehicles and artefacts connected to the momentous events of 1944.

But the real story is about the people.

Bringing together serving Sappers and veterans of the Corps of Royal Engineers, the event provided an opportunity to share knowledge, pass on experience, reconnect with old friends and forge new friendships across the generations.

In this short film, hear directly from some of those who took part as they reflect on the work, the experience and what makes these events so special.

From restoring the physical reminders of our military heritage to remembering those who made the ultimate sacrifice, it was a week that demonstrated the very best traditions of the Corps.

Our thanks once again to everyone who contributed, particularly the team, the Musée du Débarquement and the local community in Arromanches for making us so welcome.

More than 35,000 tributes will be displayed at the National Memorial Arboretum this Remembrance season, and we're proud that members of the Royal Engineers Association were there to help make it happen.

A huge thank you to the volunteers who spent a fresh autumn day laying thousands of crosses across the Arboretum. Behind every tribute is a person, a family and a story, making this a truly special and meaningful task.

Representing the Corps with exceptional professionalism, dedication and pride 33 Armoured Engineer Squadron and 26 Engineer Regiment continue to showcase the very best of the Royal Engineers on a national stage, carrying out the King's Guard during their Public Duties commitment. We wish all those on Public Duties every success as they continue their duties through to December.

The cameras move on. The headlines change.

But for many veterans and military families, the impact of conflict doesn't end when the war does.

This Armistice Day, Sapper Stu Mendelson, veterans from The Muster Point and across the nation and the Military Wives Choir are releasing "We're Still Here" - a moving Christmas song dedicated to those still carrying the effects of service today.

Released on Armistice Day.

This October, we’re helping raise awareness of breast cancer and the importance of checking regularly.

Early detection can make a difference. Knowing the signs and seeking advice if something doesn’t feel right can save lives.

What a fantastic day welcoming The Chelsea Pensioners !

A huge thank you to everyone who helped make the day a memorable success, including exploring the fascinating history of the Corps with the Royal Engineers Museum , including a curated Bailey Bridge building experience and the WWI Rolls of Honour, a visit to The Sapper Shop to enjoying lunch hosted by the WO & Sergeants’ Mess.
