📢 An Update from The ND Harbour
I wanted to let everyone know about some changes coming to The ND Harbour over the next few months.
After discussions with the trustees, we have decided to take a period of reduced activity from July to December while we review how the charity operates and make plans for a more sustainable future.
As many of you know, The ND Harbour has grown from a small idea into a thriving community over the last two years. It has been an incredible privilege to meet so many autistic and ADHD children, adults and families, and to see the connections, friendships and support that have developed through the groups.
However, like many small charities, we are facing the reality that funding opportunities are becoming increasingly difficult to secure. Much of what we have achieved so far has relied on a huge amount of unpaid work behind the scenes, and we need some time to work out how to make the charity sustainable for the long term (and we want to be able to pay people!).
What does this mean in practice?
• The adult groups will be paused from July onwards.
• Some children's groups and activities are likely to continue, but we are still confirming arrangements and will update everyone as soon as we can.
• Activities already planned before the summer break will continue as normal until 14th July.
I know this news may be disappointing, particularly for those who attend the adult groups regularly. Please know that this decision was not taken lightly.
My hope is that this pause will give us the opportunity to build something that can continue serving the community for years to come, rather than simply trying to keep going from one month to the next.
Thank you to everyone who has attended a group, volunteered, donated, shared our posts, fundraised, or supported us in any way. The community that has grown around The ND Harbour is something I am incredibly proud of.
We'll keep you updated as plans develop over the coming months.
