I am at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst Health Fair today and was delighted to see Sgt Jodie Bray again, who I served an ice cream to at the Cateran Yomp last weekend! 🍦

Jodie and her team absolutely smashed it, earning a Gold finish in an impressive 19 hours and 20 minutes. 👏

I also had a lovely chat with Colonel Mike Cooke, who was reminiscing about the two Cateran Yomps he took part in back in 2017 and 2018. One of his times was an incredible 13 hours and 8 minutes, which saw him finish in 2nd place overall.

I think it's fair to say I am well and truly blessed amongst some of the Army's finest athletes today! 💪🏅😊

We still can’t quite get over how much fun was had at this year’s Cateran Yomp! ⛺🌳

This incredible event brings together serving soldiers, veterans, and civilians from all over the world. This year was extra special, with a record-breaking number of participants and over 1,000 people crossing the start line.

Whether you take part solo or as a team, in fancy dress or full kit, the Cateran Yomp really is a one-of-a-kind experience.

⏱️The Yomp countdown begins… just one week to go! 🥾

This time next Saturday, our participants will be setting off on an epic 54-mile adventure through the Scottish wilderness, aiming to complete the course in 24 hours.

Expect laughs, highs and lows, sore muscles, delicious meals, and most importantly, an unforgettable finish.

As always, it was a pleasure to attend the 17 Port and Maritime RLC Big Breakfast in Marchwood this morning.

The RLC Regiment continues to do an amazing job of ensuring our veterans remain an important part of their yearly calendar and wider community.

I truly believe that, more often than not, community, shared experiences, and a sense of belonging are some of the most powerful ways to help address the challenges faced by those who have served to protect our freedoms.

I also had the privilege of meeting Richard Barker — a loyal supporter of the Army Benevolent Fund.

Richard has participated in 9 Front Line Walks for the Charity, raising close to £12,000 in total, and is currently fundraising for his 10th challenge: Front Line Walk – The Western Front.

Today the ABF South East are here at London Thamesport in Kent for the port’s Health and Wellbeing Day.

I had the pleasure of meeting Robbie, a former Irish Guard, who was seriously injured during his final tour of Afghanistan.
After being airlifted back to the UK, he was medically discharged from the British Army as he was no longer able to carry out his duties.
Although Robbie misses his time in the Army, he has built a successful civilian career and now works here at the port.

This is a lovely part of my role - listening to our veterans’ experiences, recognising their resilience and achievements, and, where needed, help guide them towards the right support and services.
