🎂 Last month we celebrated our second birthday, complete with Colin the Caterpillar cake and a group photo of our fantastic volunteers!

Our September repairs included:

💚 A beautiful green bracelet
🧵 Sewing machines and textile repairs
🚗 A portable car cooler/warmer box
📻 A DAB radio that unfortunately couldn’t be upgraded to DAB+

🐧 Linux is back too! Following interest in September, John and Tim will be running another introductory demonstration of Linux Mint – exploring how some older computers could stay useful beyond Windows 10.

Got something broken, torn or not working properly? Bring it along and let our volunteers see what they can do.

☕ Repairs, coffee and a friendly welcome – all part of a worldwide celebration of repair!

💻 Got a perfectly good Windows 10 computer that can’t upgrade to Windows 11?

Don’t throw it away just yet.

Linux could give some older computers a new lease of life.

This Saturday at Camberley Repair Café, our volunteer John will be demonstrating Linux Mint – a free alternative to Windows that can run well on many older PCs.

You don’t need to be technical. Come along, see what Linux looks like, try it for yourself and ask questions.

🔹 Can you browse the web, use email and work with documents?
🔹 How different is it from Windows?
🔹 Could it keep your computer useful for longer?

For now, we’re demonstrating Linux rather than installing it, and we’d really like to gauge local interest in whether this is something Camberley Repair Café could take further.

📍 Hullabaloo House, Camberley
📅 Saturday 19th September | 10:00–12:30

The demonstration will be running alongside our normal Repair Café session.

Come and have a look – and tell us what you think.

We’ll share some of our repair statistics in another post, but for now a big thank you to all the volunteers, visitors and supporters who have helped make our first two years such a success. 💚

And the repairing certainly hasn’t stopped. Last month’s successes included:

🧹 Two vacuum cleaners returned to service
🧸 A very cute blue cuddly toy given some TLC
🧵 A sewing machine repaired and ready to stitch again

🐧 Something new this month too: we’ll have a Linux Repair Café demonstration running during the session – look out for a separate post with more information.

Got something broken, torn or not quite working? Bring it along and let our volunteers see what they can do.

☕ Come for the repairs, stay for a coffee – and help us celebrate two years of fixing things together!

🧸🪡 Some repairs need a little extra love and patience…

One of our favourite items from last month was a musical teddy that needed intricate sewing. It wasn’t quite finished before we packed up, but one of our volunteers completed the delicate repair afterwards, meaning a much-loved teddy could return home.

We also helped repair:

🚗 A remote-control car
👜 A handbag
📸 A treasured photo album
🌳 A hedge trimmer
🧥 Two jackets

⚠️ The equivalent session last year was particularly busy, so we recommend arriving in good time to give our volunteers the best chance of helping you.
