Urgently required! We have had a very busy couple of weeks at the food bank and urgently need some of our basic stock replenished: tinned soup, tinned spaghetti, baked beans, tinned carrots, tinned sweetcorn, pasta sauce, tinned custard and jelly. If you can help you can drop donations at the food bank when we are open or at any of our donation points in the Southbourne supermarkets. Thank you.

By the way you can keep up to date with our food needs by using the BanktheFood app. Use the QR code below to download the app, set us up as your home food bank and you will receive prompts on our current needs as well as details of all our drop off points. It is free, no marketing follow ups and very useful for us to keep in touch. Thanks.

"Soaper News"! (Sorry). We have received a wonderful donation of 75 homemade soaps from Hope Soap in Seabourne Road, Southbourne. For every soap bought in the Hope Soap shop, another soap is donated to a food bank and we are the grateful recipients this time! Many thanks to the people at Hope Soap for their kind donation.

Wow .. times a thousand!
After a nomination by Sumathy Anantharajah and Anantharajah Kunarathianan at NISA LOCAL -Cranleigh Road our food bank has received a donation of £1000 from Nisa's charity arm Making a Difference Locally. Not only will we be able top up your very welcome donations to plug specific gaps but we will be able to continue our efforts to find ways of providing vouchers for fresh food at local shops.
This will make a huge difference - thank you Sumathy and Anantharajah!

Although we've recently had a very generous and much appreciated donation of food, our shelves soon start to empty when we give out emergency food parcels to our service users. So we'd be grateful for donations of basic store cupboard essentials: baked beans, soup, rice pudding, tinned tomatoes and UHT milk. And in this weather, bottles of fruit squash are welcome. Best wishes and thanks in anticipation of your continued kindness, from all the volunteers at SCFB

Southbourne Community Food Bank would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who continues to support us with donations and particularly Stewart Britton who brought this delivery in after your recent donations

Your kindness really does make a difference to local people in need.

If anyone would like to drop off donations, we are currently in need of the following items:

• Bottles of squash
• Jams
• Baked beans
• Pasta sauce

Donations can be dropped off at the food bank which is located at the back of Immanuel Church in Southbourne.

We are open on Monday afternoon, Wednesday morning and Friday morning.

Thank you again for all your continued support. It really means a lot to our community.

2 years ago today we posted this. It is still a pleasure to work with our local community to get us all through difficult times.

Today we had a visit from Gary. He had visited us twice with vouchers in the last few weeks. This time he came to share his gratitude with us.

After the first time that Gary had come to visit, he broke his tin opener on one of the tins we had given him. On his next visit we were able to give him a new tin opener and also gifted him with a soup kettle and a voucher to spend in the jubilatte cafe. Today he came in with tears in his eyes, to tell us that we were a miracle to him. We hadn't known at the time when gifting him that Gary had been suffering from severe toothache, so the soup kettle had meant that he had now been able to eat something warm and nutritious and the can opener had meant he could actually open the items from his food parcel.

It is always bittersweet hearing the gratitude from those we support, because, on one hand we believe that everyone should be able to have enough food to eat and on the other hand we feel incredibly blessed that we can be there in people's time of need.

Thank you for sharing your story with us Gary and allowing us to share it with others ❤️

Who doesn't love a new sign? All our food donation points now have our new signage. Look out for it in our local collection points (basically pretty well all the Southbourne supermarkets plus Nicholas O'Hara in Tuckton). If you see one why not tell us with a comment on where and when you spotted it. And if you insist on a photo of you next to the collection box even better! Let's see if we can spot all 11 (YES, 11!). Good hunting.

Did you know that in the last 2 months we have provided well over 100 bags of food for local people in crisis, meeting the needs of over 80 adults and children? This picture shows a typical parcel for a family coming to us for food, providing 3 meals a day for 3 days, thanks to your food and cash donations. You are stars!

And if you want to continue to support our activity you can donate in person at the food bank, or at any of the supermarkets from Pokesdown, through Southbourne and on to Southbourne Crossroads and Tuckton, all of whom partner us in our work. Or at least follow us here to share our messages. TIA.
