Bonnyrigg Rose Community Football Club Welcome to Bonnyrigg Rose Community Football Club

We’re a football club with our community at heart

The Official Bonnyrigg Rose Football Club page allows fans to connect with the club and each other. Bonnyrigg Rose are a registered charity in Scotland SC046753

Football and the name of Bonnyrigg Rose can be traced back to the 1800's. Not to be confused with Bonnyrigg Rose Athletic who compete in the Junior leagues Bonnyrigg Rose Football Club has teams competing at all age groups from 5

years old and over. At the turn of the Millenium Bonnyrigg Rose Football Club resided at the Staiside Pavilion and their teams which were largely boys teams played on the nearby pitches. The new Lasswade Community High School was built on the grounds of the Staiside Pavilion which caused the Club to be homeless and reliant on Bonnyrigg Rose Social Club for meetings with their teams games now being played on pitches in the surrounding area of Bonnyrigg. Dave Kelly formed The Bonnyrigg Rose Academy in 2007 with the sole objective to give 5 year old kids from the local community the opportunity to try football this initiative which continues relentlessly has seen 50 kids every year join our club.

2011 also saw Robin & Vicky Laing form Bonnyrigg Rose Girls starting with a group of 12 players aged to play under 11's football. Growth has seen the girls numbers exceed 90 players across age groups from U9's to U17's. This girls section we believe outside the main cities to be the largest girls section in Scotland.

2015 saw the club achieve SFA Legacy Status, the highest Quality Mark achievable and allowed our Bonnyrigg Rose to join an elite band of clubs recognised by the SFA for not only its football attributes but for the work it carried out in the Community.

2016 was a huge year for the club where in July the club gained Charitable Status quickly followed by the Community Asset Transfer of our new home - Poltonhall Pavilion in Bonnyrigg. The club continued its Community progress when being informed by the SFA in March 2017 that it had been selected as one of only 3 clubs in Scotland to be part of a Pilot initiative to expand its facilities and create more opportunities in the Community by Asset Transfer.

⚽️ A fantastic day at St Mary's Primary School as we delivered football sessions for everyone from Nursery through to Primary 7 alongside Little Voices Big Stars who took the same groups for singing our favorite Scotland songs 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

With World Cup fever in full flow, the enthusiasm, energy and smiles were incredible from start to finish. 🌍🏆

It's brilliant to see so many young people getting active and enjoying football together through the Summer of Sport programme.

Thanks to everyone at St Mary's for making us so welcome.

Another fantastic afternoon at our Wee Rosey Posey Minis, with plenty of smiles, energy and enthusiasm from all of our young players ⚽🌹

Alongside the fun, it was also a special day for several members of our Coach Mentoring Programme.

A huge well done to Lucy, Alyx, Olivia, Marla and Connor, who all took part in supporting and coaching within the programme, taking another important step in their coaching journey 👏

It was also great to see Jess take her first steps into coaching today at Burnbrae Primary.

What makes our Coach Mentoring Programme so valuable is the opportunity it provides young people to gain real coaching experience in a supportive environment. Through working with programmes such as The Wee Rosey Posey Minis, The Wee Rosey Posey & Extra Time our young coaches are developing confidence, communication skills, leadership qualities and an understanding of how to create positive experiences for young players.

The future of coaching is in good hands, and we're incredibly proud of the impact these young coaches are already having on the next generation of players 👊
