Just a quick reminder...we have a fabulous opportunity to join our team at Blackburn Foodbank. You can make a real difference.
We are seeking to appoint a Debt and Benefits Adviser, or a trainee Debt and Benefits Adviser, to work within The Oaks Money Advice Centre which is under the umbrella of Blackburn Foodbank.
The Adviser will be responsible for delivering high quality debt and benefits advice services to clients via face to face, telephone and digital channels. Ideally the Adviser should have knowledge of the current benefits system and debt process and applications thereof, however this could be a training position for the right person since full
training will be provided.
We would like to appoint an Adviser who:
• Will provide casework covering the full range of debt and benefit work
• Is committed to maintaining the positive and caring ethos of Blackburn Foodbank and its strong links to the Trussell Trust
• Will continue to develop innovative working practices reflecting today’s challenges and opportunities
• Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills relating to clients, staff, volunteers and other professional bodies
• Is willing to undertake training as necessary
Job title: Debt and Benefits Adviser
Required as soon as possible
Full-time: 35 hours per week - 1 year fixed-term (with likely extension)
Starting salary £21,500 to £27,000 depending on experience

Blackburn Foodbank is open Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays between 10:00 and 14:00. Please note that you must have an active referral to receive a food parcel.

Our address is: The Oaks, Oakenhurst Road (BB2 1SN). We are located near Bank Top Neighbourhood Learning Centre and next to Montague Pharmacy. If you have any issues, please contact us and we can help direct you to our building!

* Harvest Festival at The Table For The Nation *

All are warmly invited to attend the Cathedral Eucharist on Sunday 4th October at 10.30am as we celebrate our Harvest Festival.

We will be using the Table for the Nation as part of our worship, with harvest gifts being displayed and the Eucharist being celebrated at the head of the Table.

Congregational seating will be arranged around the Table, so that we can gather around the gifts that God gives to us - both the physical gifts of food, and the spiritual gifts of the Eucharist.

We are aiming to make a sizeable donation to Blackburn Foodbank so if you are able, please bring non-perishable food items to support local people most in need.
