At cubs tonight, three cubs ran a programme based on Germany, that they created at the recent sixer training sleepover. Jack, Harry and Alfie split the cubs into two groups. The first group completed two German themed quizzes. Then they looked at some facts about Germany including their flag and the German cub scout promise. The second group enjoyed tasting German foods which included pretzels, smoked cheese and Bratwursts. After the groups swapped over the cubs joined together to play a game of Volkerball. Well done to these brave cubs who all did very well in running the night. Back in the Troop room, Mysa was awarded her young leader badges as she has completed all her challenges and we finished by saluting George out of the pack and off on his way to the scouts. We wish he well as he continues his scouting journey.

Tonight the scouts were invited to watch BTC sponsored Billingham Stars. All the scouts throughly enjoyed it!!! topped off with a great 12-4 win for them. A massive thanks to Kay and the rest of the volunteers for inviting us along and looking after us once again 🐻‍❄️

FEEL-GOOD FRIDAY!

It’s getting a little chilly and there’s a storm blowing in.
Some of us like Half Term and for some it does their head in!

We looked at the patron saints and the Union flag at cubs tonight, as I took the cubs back to the sort of things I did back when I was a cub, trying to earn my Arrow Badges. After identifying the four patron saints of England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales the cubs completed four treasure hunts. Each clue was a jigsaw piece, which when assembled identified information on each saint. Next we discussed how the Union Flag was made and each cub coloured in the three flags that make it. Then they folded and glued them into a union flag. We finished with a pairs game identifying patron saints and the professions and organisations they represent. After drinks and games I present Keego with her Young Leader awards as she has completed all her training modules.

🎃👻 What a spooktacular Halloween party! 🦇🕷️

Our Beavers and Squirrels had a fang-tastic time celebrating Halloween! 🧙‍♀️🧛‍♂️ There were some fantastic costumes, lots of spooky fun, games and plenty of laughter! 🖤🧡

A huge well done to everyone who came along and got involved. It was brilliant to see everyone joining in and having so much fun together! 🎃👻

Thank you to all our leaders and volunteers who helped make the evening such a success. 💜

Tonight at scouts we held a circus skills night with 4 bases which included Unicycling, juggling, plate spinning and Diablos. All the scouts really stuck at as the tasks are not the easiest but well done!!! When the finished off with a couple of games

Our SPL’s, PL’s and APL’s have had a sleepover at the scout hut this weekend to learn the foundations of being in charge of a patrol, what’s expected of them, and what their roll is in the ceremonial parts of scouting. We began on Friday night with some team building games, to help the scouts learn about taking charge and giving clear instructions. They planned a scout night to help give them an insight into organising activities for the scouts. We ended our night with pizza supper and a movie. Saturday morning began with a full English breakfast, followed by inspection, to ensure they can help their patrol while at camps. We taught them how to fold the flag and perform their duty at flag break and also their role in investing new scouts to the troop. We then had a go at axe throwing and after lunch of fish finger sandwiches we played some more games that involved team building, instruction giving and leadership skills, before bidding the scouts goodbye, and we hope to see their new skills in action on Tuesday night!
