Did you know?
Berkhamsted Civic Centre, as well as providing access by the public to officers of Dacorum Borough Council, also houses the Town Council and the Police Station, and provides, in the main hall, a venue for a wide range of community events, supporting the cultural and recreational interests of the town.

EcoBerko, which used to be known as Transition Town Berkhamsted, has applied for the Civic Centre to be registered as an Asset of Community Value. If this application is successful then, should the Borough Council wish to sell the building, local community groups will have the right and opportunity to purchase it and save it for local use.

The Berkhamsted Citizens’ Association have provided a letter to EcoBerko, commending their request, which can be used in support of the application.

Last nights Gardeners' Question Time was a great success for so many reasons.

We had a wonderful turnout by the community which in turn supported the BCA and Castle Trust.

Our experienced and knowledgeable panel of experts answered all questions posed by the audience.

Lisa Hardinge, a local resident owner of March Hare Garden Design, led a great demonstration on how to create sustainable planters. She also kindly donated a beautiful planter and plants as part of our raffle.

Paul Cramp, owner of Amberley Garden Services, spoke to attendees about how to use bulbs throughout the year.

Anne Foster, a pillar of our community, led a demonstration on how to take cuttings from your garden to get more for less. She also kindly donated all of the plants for the plant sale, with funds benefitting the Castle Trust.

We had lovely donations made by local businesses for our raffle. Many thanks to March Hare Garden Design, Woods Garden Centre, Cook & Butler, Vinegar Hill, Ashridge House, Tesco and Marks & Spencer.

Berkhamsted in Bloom shared their goals, the work they have done and their desire to have more volunteers to help create more beautiful spaces within our town.

A representative from the Allotments was on hand to answer questions and Sunnyside Rural Trust was there so that people could learn more about what they offer.

Thank you to all.
