We're part of Berkhamsted in Bloom and happy to share their next community event which we can all take part in - fun for all the family!

We will be selling not ONE but TWO delicious honeys at the Berkhamsted Artisan Market on Sunday (tomorrow) - small jars of our Spring honey and large jars from our Summer harvest. Why not buy one of each to compare and then you know which one to replenish when you run out?!

Our stocks always do sell out so perhaps think about tasty gifts for Christmas - we'll have some Xmas ribbon so we can dress the jar up a bit for you

Money raised through honey sales goes towards the management of this much-loved and much-awarded community space (Anglia in Bloom)

Looking forward to celebrating with other Berkhamsted in Bloom gardeners this evening at 7pm in Lagley Meadow Hall, following our fantastic awards at the Anglia in Bloom event: A Silver Gilt in the Large Town category, Hertfordshire Champions and the cemetery winning their 2026 Community Project Award. Exciting news to share! A few of us went to the Anglia in Bloom regional awards event all the way up in St Ives, Cambridgeshire. (The region covers Cambridgeshire, Norfolk, Suffolk, Essex, Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire.)

All the fantastic efforts of the Berkhamsted In Bloom gardeners were recognised as we were awarded a *Silver Gilt* (just one point off Gold)! We also received the *Hertfordshire County Champions award*. A really wonderful result and quite an arrival into the RHS In Bloom world! We met our judges again and they were so enthusiastic about our gardens and gardeners and our future.

And to top it all, Rectory Lane Cemetery won the *Best Community Project 2026 Award* ! We were presented with certificates and engraved wooden bowls. (We also collected two Golds and a Silver Gilt on behalf of Dacorum Borough Council for three of their beautiful parks.

We are holding a celebration where we will share the judges’ feedback at Lagley Meadow Hall on Thursday 1st October at 7pm. Looking forward to celebrating with as many gardeners as possible. We hope to be awarding the young winners of the Tallest Sunflower competition too there!

We are all very sorry to hear that local bagpiper Graeme Selkirk has died recently. Graeme delighted everyone in Berkhamsted with his playing, and would sometimes be spotted practising the bagpipes out in Ashridge Forest among the deer and the beeches, where he liked to go "for a guid blaw". Graeme enriched Burns Suppers and Remembrance ceremonies with his bagpipes, and in 2021 we were honoured to have him as the piper at the inauguration of the Garden of Remembrance War Memorial in Rectory Lane Cemetery. His life was filled with folk, blues and rock music, he played guitar, and was also a talented stained-glass maker. It will be quiet without you, Graeme. Rest in peace.

Yesterday at St Peter's Church, we celebrated the valuable work that volunteers from many different organisations do to bind our community together.

❤️ Thank you to everyone who took part in our Volunteers' Thanksgiving Service yesterday in St Peter's. This was a lovely time to give thanks for all the volunteers who give their time freely to make life better in Berkhamsted. We welcomed representatives from organisations all over the local area, as well as people in our own congregation, giving thanks for the work that people do to bind our community together. Let's have another one!

St Peter's Church (to which our Cemetery is attached) are holding a short Service of Thanksgiving on Thursday evening for all the people in our town who volunteer their time to make Berkhamsted a better place to live. Our cemetery is beautifully tended by volunteers, and all are welcome to come. There will be a 🥂drinks reception afterwards!
