DADS UNITED: A GROUP FOR DADS, STEPDADS AND MALE CARERS OF AUTISTIC CHILDREN, YOUNG PEOPLE AND ADULTS 🤝

Fancy a chat, a laugh, or spending time with people who just get it? Dads United is a relaxed, welcoming space to connect with others, share experiences and enjoy good company. No pressure/ no judgement.

The group is facilitated by our Trustees, James Turner and Kevin Guthrie, who have lived experience, alongside Andy, a former SENDCo.

When: Thursday 12th November, 6pm-9pm
Where: Newcastle Greyhound Stadium, NE6 2XJ.

It’s the start of Occupational Therapy Week! 🩵

This year’s theme is Participation Changes Everything, and we’re celebrating the incredible difference Occupational Therapists make in the lives of autistic children and young people.

For autistic children and young people, everyday activities and experiences can sometimes come with barriers that others may not see or understand. Whether it’s developing independence, navigating sensory challenges, building confidence or taking part in everyday routines, the right support can make a world of difference.

This Occupational Therapy Week, we’re celebrating Sophie and Zoe, our Occupational Therapists at The Toby Henderson Trust and the difference they make every day. Thank you both for everything you do! 👏🏻

Our network members at Life Science Centre have a brilliant line-up of relaxed and inclusive sessions coming up, specially designed for autistic people, neurodivergent visitors, or anyone who benefits from a calmer environment.

Here is what is on offer:

1. Relaxed Sunday Sessions (Science Centre)
Explore the science centre at your own pace with adjustments made across the venue, including reduced visitor numbers, sensory backpacks, and dedicated quiet spaces.

2. Relaxed Ice Skating Sessions

A massive thank you to sarahsshed2025, Amy’s lovely mum from Sibling Superstars, for spoiling our staff and siblings with these incredible Halloween treats on Thursday.

Just look at these goodies! The cookies and cake looked amazing, and we can confirm they tasted just as delicious as they look! Sarah well and truly made our day and brought lots of smiles to our staff and siblings. Thank you so much, Sarah, for thinking of us and making our Halloween that little bit sweeter!

Today, we’re celebrating 25 years of The Toby Henderson Trust! 🎉🎉🎉

A special message from our CEO and founder, Lesley Henderson…

"Well, today is the 25th birthday of our centre. Yes, The Old Barn opened its doors with the legendary Gary Speed cutting the ribbon on the 1st of November 2001.
Today is a quieter affair, but without a doubt, a time for quiet celebration. Not least of all, by me.

It’s often said of our children that we blink our eyes and an adult stood where a child used to be. It’s true. Toby is a grown 32 year old man these days. I suppose I could similarly say that I have blinked my eyes and a busy reality now stands where a dream used to be.

Happy 25th birthday Toby House.

Happy Halloween! 🖤🎃

We’ve had a spooktacular few days celebrating Halloween with our amazing MATES and Sibling groups, and we’ve loved sharing the fun and making memories together!

Now it’s Halloween itself, we wanted to share a little reminder... do Halloween your way!

We know that for some, Halloween is all about dressing up, trick-or-treating and enjoying all things spooky! For others, it can feel overwhelming, challenging or simply not be their thing, and that’s absolutely okay, too.

Whether you’re out today or this evening, finding your own way to celebrate, or choosing a quiet night in, there’s no right or wrong way to spend Halloween. You don’t have to join in with everything, and you certainly don’t have to do it just because everyone else is!

Here is your reminder from us: You do you, at your own pace, in your own way.

However you’re spending Halloween today, we hope you have a great day 🧡

Polymorph Sculpture Sessions, it’s been a blast working with you with our groups. Our MATES Seniors loved the session this afternoon and we’ve been blown away with all of the creativity shown.

A big thank you to anyone who contributed in anyway to our ball earlier this year, thanks to the money raised that night we were able to heavily subsidise this session.

for delivering another amazing session for our MATES Juniors this morning. They were all so engaged and creative and we think their pumpkins came out looking fabulous. 🎃

We were able to offer this session highly subsidised thanks to money raised at our ball in May this year! Thank you for everyone who supported the event!
