🎽Behind the Scenes - HSM Hobbies!🎽

When Ian isn't assessing our lovely Reablement customers across Norwich and Great Yarmouth, or supporting our Norwich Supported Living customers - he likes to run! More slow and steady than Usain Bolt, he advocates for running as someone with anxiety - because it frees his mind and fills him with endorphins! When he isn't running, you'll find him knitting! He says he finds it all absorbing and he can just forget the worries of the day. Plus he gets to do his model poses!

Do we have any other runners or knitters in our HSM community?🏃🏼🧶

During Mental Health Awareness Week 2026, it's all about turning awareness into action💚

Action doesn’t have to be big, we can try and make a difference this week by:

- Checking in on a friend or colleague, beyond just work tasks
- Reaching out and speaking up when things feel tough
- Listening without judgement when someone opens up
- Using well-being resources available to you
- Celebrate small team (or individual) wins
- Being mindful of others during stressful periods

There’s no 'right' way to take action, what matters is that we start somewhere!

What actions are you taking this week to support your mental health or others?

Let’s share and encourage each other, comment below 👇

📈Meet Nicola - Operational Administrator📈

"I started my career as a Care Coordinator back in 2010, working for Carver Recruitment. We then transitioned to Allied Healthcare and later to Home Support Matters.
In 2023, I became an Operational Administrator. I really enjoy my job and find it very rewarding, knowing that as a team and as a company we are all helping people to stay as independent as possible and enabling them to remain in their own homes. I enjoy working with all my colleagues in the office and all the carers out in the field. It is like having a second family.

I’m looking forward to another 16 years at Home Support Matters."

Thank you Nic for your dedication to HSM, we appreciate your hard work!🌟

In May, one of our dedicated team members, Cheryl Blanchet, is taking on an meaningful challenge - walking 31 miles for Dementia UK, a cause very close to their heart.

Your donation will be used to increase the number of specialist dementia nurses, known as Admiral Nurses. They provide free, life-changing support and advice to anyone affected by dementia. They work in local community services, GP practices, hospitals, care homes and hospices. Donations also support run a free dementia helpline and online clinic appointments.

🗒Meet Jessie - Field Care Supervisor 🗒

"From hands-on care to Field Care Supervisor for the Great Yarmouth area — 12 years of learning, growing, and standing up for quality care.

I started my journey with a simple passion to help others, and today I’m proud to support, and inspire care teams across Great Yarmouth. The passion is still the same - just with more responsibility and even more pride in the job I love. 💙"

Thank you Jessie for the passion you bring every day, we appreciate you!😊

📋Meet Michelle - Field Care Supervisor📋

"I joined what was then Medico back in 2008, originally as a stop‑gap while I took a year out of nursing - but here I am, still going strong! Over the years, I’ve seen many changes and have had the opportunity to work across most areas of care, including domiciliary care, live‑in packages and night shifts, all of which helped me work towards the role I’m in today.

I now support the Great Yarmouth area as a Field Care Supervisor and Trusted Assessor. My role includes carrying out assessments, monitoring care packages, and supporting both new and existing care workers.

I’m lucky to work alongside a brilliant team, and I’m proud to be part of HSM 💙"

Thank you for all of your hard work over the years Michelle, we appreciate you!🌟

🐎 Behind the scenes - HSM Hobbies! 🐎

When she’s not managing our services across Beccles, Norwich and Lowestoft, Becca’s true passion is horse riding. After a busy day in the office, Becca loves to switch off by heading out for a horse‑riding hack 🐴. Known by many as Redwings Pauline (aka Pony), horseriding is her way to switch off, reset, and enjoy some well‑earned downtime before the next fast‑paced day.

💬 Over to you! Drop a comment below with a photo of your animal‑related hobby that helps you unwind after work - we’d love to see them! 🐾
