💗 Nicola’s – Cervical Screening Awareness Week (15–21 June 2026)

Cervical Screening Awareness Week is an important opportunity to raise awareness of cervical screening (smear tests) and encourage women to attend when invited.

A cervical screening test is offered to women and anyone with a cervix aged 25–64 living in Scotland. The test checks for the Human Papillomavirus (HPV), which can cause changes to cells in the cervix.

🌸 Cervical screening is one of the best ways to prevent cervical cancer.

🌸 It can identify HPV before it causes problems.

🌸 It can detect changes early, often before symptoms develop.

🌸 The test is quick, routine, and could save your life.

We know many women feel nervous, embarrassed, worried, or have had difficult experiences that make attending appointments feel challenging. If this sounds familiar, please know you’re not alone. Speak to your practice nurse about any concerns—they are there to help and support you.

💗 If you’ve received your invitation, consider making that appointment today.

Your health matters. You matter.

⏰ Don’t put it off—your future self will thank you.

🌸Nicolas Supports this call for Action 🌸

We would like to thank and support Kirsteen Sullivan MSP
for raising this important issue and for speaking up on behalf of women across Scotland.

We also stand with Elaine Watson, Nicola’s mum, whose courage in continuing to share Nicola’s story helps shine a light on the reality faced by far too many women.

Nicola lost her life to su***de after years of living with severe endometriosis, her operation was cancelled the week before she ended her life, a healthcare journey that left her feeling unheard and unsupported. Her story is a heartbreaking reminder that women’s health conditions can have a profound impact on both physical and mental wellbeing.

Women’s health deserves dedicated leadership, accountability, and action. We support calls for women’s health to remain a priority and will continue to advocate for better awareness, education, support, and healthcare for women.

For Nicola. For all women. 💗

⏰ Cervical Screening Awareness Week ⏰

Have you received your cervical screening (smear test) invitation? If so, please don’t put it off.

Cervical screening is a quick test that checks for the human papillomavirus (HPV), which can cause changes in the cells of the cervix. It is one of the best ways to help prevent cervical cancer and can identify changes before symptoms develop.

In Scotland, cervical screening is offered to women and anyone with a cervix aged 25–64. Even if you feel healthy and have no symptoms, attending when invited could make a significant difference to your future health.

If you’re feeling nervous, embarrassed, or have had a difficult experience in the past, please know you’re not alone. Speak to your GP practice about any support you may need, including a longer appointment or additional adjustments.

💗 Your health matters.
💗 Your wellbeing matters.
💗 Please attend when invited.

Cervical Screening Awareness Week 💗

Cervical Screening Awareness Week (15–21 June) is a reminder of how important it is to attend your smear test when invited.

In Scotland, cervical screening is offered to women and anyone with a cervix aged 25–64. The test checks for HPV (Human Papillomavirus), which can cause changes to cervical cells over time.

✅ Cervical screening helps prevent cervical cancer
✅ HPV is very common and often clears naturally
✅ Cell changes are not cancer and can usually be treated if found early
✅ Even if you feel well, screening is still important

Since 2020, routine screening in Scotland is usually offered every 5 years if no HPV is found. If HPV is detected, you may be invited for more regular monitoring.

At Nicola’s, we know that appointments like these can feel worrying, uncomfortable, or easy to put off. But taking a few minutes for a screening appointment could make a huge difference to your future health.

⏰ If you’ve received your invitation, consider booking your appointment today.

💗 Your health matters.

🦋 A Gentle Invitation to Remember 🦋

At Nicola’s, we know that grief for a baby or child never truly leaves us. Whether your loss was recent or many years ago, your child is loved, remembered, and part of your story forever.

We wanted to share this beautiful memorial event being hosted by Anam Cara Fasgadh at West Lothian Crematorium. It offers a safe and compassionate space for families to come together, reflect, remember, and honour the children who are no longer physically with us.

For some, remembrance can bring comfort, connection, and the reassurance that they are not alone.

If this feels right for you, please consider attending. 💜
