Eco Barnoldswick People living and working in or around Barnoldswick taking practical steps to improve our environment

People living and working in or around Barnoldswick taking practical steps to improve our environment. We believe that each of us can make changes in the way we live, and that when added together these small changes will help us build a more sustainable community. We are committed to working together to make Barnoldswick a community that cares for its environment. We want to create a town with:

Cleaner air
• Cleaner streets
• Less waste
• Lower energy homes and businesses

We will do this by:
• Learning together how we each can reduce the damage we do to our environment
• Running workshops, activities, and events to help create a local eco movement
• Working with local businesses and employers to support as they look for ways to reducing their ecological footprint

We are a non-political group and see the need to repair our world as being above politics and something that everyone can play a part in.

As part of The Great Big Green Week, I popped down to the Eco Barnoldswick Swap Shop at the Frank Street Centre, and the community spirit was fantastic.

It was brilliant to see local plant lovers trading plants, cuttings, and seedlings. Plus, they had a clothes swap running alongside it - giving good quality, forgotten wardrobe pieces a second lease of life.

Brilliant initiative, brilliant community, and a great way to live a bit more sustainably!

Thank you so much to everyone who came to the celebration of Hugh's life yesterday and to everyone who spoke about him. He was a unique man who will be sorely missed. Our takeaway moment was from Julie Bryan and it's something that everyone could benefit from in life "BE MORE HUGH"

Definitely not to be missed. Brave the weather and come along and swap your plants and clothes at the Frank Street Centre from 10 - 3 and toys at Barnoldswick Library from 10 - 12. Want something but nothing to swap? Make a donation instead.
Join in our Community Weave - bring along a piece of fabric that means something special to you and share the story behind it. If you’d prefer not to cut up your item, just bring it along and tell us its story.
Students from West Craven High School will be showcasing how they have transformed items of clothing using weaving techniques.
There’ll also be a chance for you to have a go at reusing fabric and trying some weaving yourself.

This year’s craft activities and displays are all about reusing fabric through weaving. Students from West Craven High School will be showcasing how they have transformed items of clothing using weaving techniques.
There’ll also be a chance for you to have a go at reusing fabric and trying some weaving yourself.
We’re creating a Community Weave, and we’d love you to bring along a piece of fabric that means something special to you and share the story behind it. If you’d prefer not to cut up your item, just bring it along and tell us its story.
