🏡 TODAY’S BANSTEAD HISTORY SPOTLIGHT 🕰️

Did you know that Banstead was recorded as “Benestede” in the Domesday Book of 1086—and the settlement may date back as far as the seventh or eighth century?

Banstead later became known for its beautiful open countryside and wonderfully “wholesome air.” London doctors reportedly recommended visiting the village to patients hoping to improve their health! 🌳💚

CHIPSTEAD VALLEY ROAD: Drainage upgrades – installation of traffic calming ‘raised tables’ and road surface renewal:
September 10th for one week with a night-time road closure between 8pm – 6am.

Banstead Trail wellbeing walk — listed on the organiser’s weekly timetable at 11am, meeting behind Park Life café, Avenue Road, SM7 2PA. Free, volunteer-led and approximately 90 minutes; arrive 10 minutes early and register online beforehand if joining for the first time. Official YMCA details⁠
