One for the !
Mega thanks to all the volunteer road marshals who kindly gave up their time to support the road closure on Thursday, 27 November, for the Banstead Christmas Community Event alongside Nick and the team from Landmark Protections.
Together they ensured the road closure ran as smoothly as possible, and kept the High Street safe for those attending, redirecting drivers where necessary, even in the face of a few hostile drivers.
Both the Landmark team and the volunteers were professional, courteous and took the strain off the event organisers so we could concentrate on providing the best event.
Event volunteers also put in time and effort before the event to communicate the road closure in good time. Their large, bright yellow Advance Warning signs that went up weeks before the event and Road Closed/Road Ahead Closed signs on the evening were, we hope, unmissable!
A massive thank you too, to those who delivered and collected all the barriers and traffic signs on the evening and delivered flyers to the residents and business on and directly off of the High Street prior to the evening.
The is entirely volunteer led and would not be possibly without the support of volunteers and the community.
This is the second year the road has been closed for the event. Though this has typically been well received, we will continue to review and improve arrangements. We welcome the support of the community and are always looking for more volunteers. Please do get in touch if you would like to join the team next year.
Thank you and happy run-up to the holidays!
