Well done to the Scouts who took part in last night’s Geocaching Activity Badge Hike around Helen’s Bay 👏

Taking advantage of the extra day light and good weather, the section completed a circular hike around Helen’s Bay while searching for some of the many Geocaches in the area 🌳

The Scouts did a great job using GPS coordinates and clues to find seven different Geocaches. We also found a 7th Inverness Aird Scout Group group badge during our adventure. For some of the Scouts this was the final part for their badge work, and for some this is just the beginning of their Geocaching adventures 🧭

Scouts Personal Challenge Award

How to earn your badge:
Complete two personal challenges which you and your leader agree on.
You should choose one of the challenges and your leader will choose the other.

The challenges must be different from the ones you did for your Beaver and Cub Personal Challenge Awards.

Here are some example challenges to give you some ideas, but make sure you choose to do something that is personal to you.

-Support a new Scout to complete their Membership Award
-Give up using your mobile or games console for a week
-Take part in an organised walk or run for charity
-Talk about a topic you are interested in in front of your Patrol
-Bring the right equipment to Scouts every week for a term
-Help your younger brother or sister with their school work for a term
-Learn how to communicate in basic sign language
-Do at least an hour of physical activity every day over the summer holidays
-Gain an activity permit
-Do the washing up at home for two weeks
-Plan and run a base or activity at camp
-Organise a small fundraising event for the Group or a local charity

9th Bangor had one team take part in this real life game of Monopoly, which challenged both the Scout’s navigation and investigation skills. While it was a bit wet, the Scouts made great progress and managed to get a good amount of locations completed 🏰

Well done to the other groups who took part, especially our friends from Hydra Explorer Scouts who came first in their game.

Again a huge thanks to Trevor Hendren and the team for doing such a fantastic job organising and running the event ⚜

Well done to the Scouts who took part in last night’s ‘Camp Cooking Challenge’ evening 👏

After a quick game of ‘Hungry Hippos’, the Scouts then took advantage of the good weather to practice some camp cooking!

Using trangias, the groups had different kinds of food to cook up (Freeze-dried food, MREs and Tinned Food). Each group also had self heating MREs to use as well. Even the millennial leaders had a hard time using the tin opener 😂

Congratulations to the Scouts as we presented 10 x Burn 24 Badges and 5 x Trash the Trash badges👏
