At Bakewell Town & Community Trust we believe that the Town Hall is part of the community. The Trust is a registered charity, established to run the building and provide high quality arts, theatre, music and community events and activities. That’s why we are working hard to provide facilities and activities to suit a broad range of users. We offer a special reduced, community rate for local commu

nity groups and charities to ensure that we remain at the heart of Bakewell. Our current users are wide ranging and we want to welcome new groups, so we’ve made considerable efforts to improve accessibility. With the improvements we’ve implemented Bakewell Town Hall can provide rooms for hire with quality facilities for both small and large user groups.

Join us this evening, Friday September 4th, for the third in our trio of theatre streamings by Handa Opera on Sydney Harbour.

🎭 Verdi's La Traviata 🎭

Enter the glittering world of 19th century Paris without leaving Derbyshire!

Featuring a breath-taking soaring 9 metre high, 3.5 ton chandelier covered in 10,000 shimmering Swarovski crystals. The glamourous production was captured on location on Sydney Harbour in 2021 in front of a sold out audience. La Traviata features timeless romantic arias, lively choreography, beautiful costumes and spectacular fireworks.

Follow Violetta and Alfredo as their passionate love story unfolds, set against some of Verdi's most beautiful and famous music including the instantly recognisable "Libiamo ne' lieti calici" (The Drinking Song 🍷).

Experience a journey of self‑discovery and fun through movement, sound, and dance with Chakra Dancing, a free‑flow workout for the mind, body, and soul.

We all vibrate at different frequencies, each linked to specific areas of the body. You’ll be guided to dance through each chakra, freeing energy blockages and promoting physical, mental, and emotional release.

Ground your energy and let go of stress and emotion as you balance the seven energy centres along the spine. By stimulating the natural flow of energy through the chakras, this dance leads to inner harmony and wellbeing, a workout from the inside out!

🎬 Film Friday 🎬

Our August offering for Film Friday is a little different and definitely not to be missed. Stone of Stone, written by Mark Wallington and directed by Alec Boyd, is the result of four years of community effort from nearly 100 non-professionals in the world of filmmaking. The community and film location? Derbyshire's very own Edale!!!

Set in the fictional, sleepy village of Stone, where ‘change’ and the modern world are alien concepts to its residents, the daily village goings-on are derailed by an existential threat that will require the community to pull together and risk it all if it wants to survive. With local jobs drying up, fewer and fewer children in the school and even newcomers to contend with, can Jack and his unlikely crew pull something off to keep the soul of the village alive and stop Stone becoming a holiday-let ghost town?

Stone of Stone, having premiered in a local barn in Edale earlier this year, now embarks on its first public screening tour. We are absolutely thrilled to be one of the venues.

We are now just one week away from our big-screen streaming of the André Rieu 2026 Summer Concert, Viva Maastricht!

One week today!!

Join us for the second in our trio of offerings from Handa Opera on Sydney Harbour, a grand, open-air production featuring a massive floating stage, a giant fire-breathing dragon, Chinese acrobatics and dazzling fireworks.

Turandot is a three-act opera set in ancient Peking about a cruel princess who executes suitors who cannot solve her riddles, and a brave prince who risks his life to win her love.

This production, directed by Chen Shi-Zheng features a cast of world-class singers, including Dragana Radakovic as Turandot and Riccardo Massi as Calaf, and is known for its powerful rendition of “Nessun Dorma.”

Not to be missed!!
