⚠️Storm warnings today and into the weekend⚠️

A yellow weather warning for wind remains in force across Derbyshire until 9pm today as Storm Austen brings strong winds to the county.

A further yellow wind warning is in place from 12pm Saturday until 9pm Sunday as Storm Boelo is forecast to bring more unsettled weather, particularly across the Peak District.

Please take extra care when out and about and be aware of the risk of fallen trees, debris and possible travel disruption.

📞 Before contacting us, please check our storm call table below, which explains what Derbyshire Fire & Rescue Service will and won't attend during severe weather conditions.

Remember: Always call 999 if there is an immediate risk to life.

A huge thank you to Rotary Amber Valley for their generous donation of £1,000 to Peak 4x4 Response! 🙌

Our Secretary, Leigh and Treasurer Dave were delighted to receive the donation at the Bull Shed Shottle Pie Night, where Rotary celebrated their 11th Shottle Charity Horse Ride and thanked the local farmers who make it possible.

🚗 Fire Awareness Training 🚗🔥

Our responders recently completed fire awareness training, with a strong focus on electric vehicles and the particular risks they bring.

EVs are becoming more common on our roads, so it's vital our team knows how to approach them safely. The training covered battery fires, thermal runaway, reignition risks, and how to keep both responders and the public safe at the scene.

Training like this means we're ready to support our communities and partner agencies whenever we're called on. 💪

A huge thank you to the Rotary Club of Amber Valley for their generous donation 🙏

Our volunteers were proud to support the Shottle Charity Horse Ride, and we really appreciate the Rotary Club recognising our help on the day. 🐴🚙

Your donation will go straight towards keeping our responders ready to help communities across Derbyshire when they need us most.

Thank you for your support! 💚

💚 World Mental Health Day 💚

When the snow closes the roads or the floods come in, our volunteers head out to make sure NHS staff, carers and patients get where they need to be. Those calls are often the hardest days for everyone involved, on both sides of the car door.

Bad weather can be isolating. For someone stuck at home, cut off from family or worried about getting to work or an appointment, it can weigh heavily. For our responders, long nights and difficult situations can stay with you after the engine's switched off.

So today, a few reminders for all of us:

🔹 It's OK not to be OK, and it's OK to say so.
🔹 Check in on people. A neighbour living alone, a friend who's gone quiet, a crewmate after a long shout. A phone call or a brew can mean more than you think.
🔹 Looking after yourself isn't weakness. Taking a step back to rest is part of being ready to help others.
🔹 Reach out. You don't have to have the words, just start the conversation.

If you're struggling and need to talk to someone now:

🚑 In an emergency, always call 999

Look after each other out there, on the road and off it. 🚙💚

🚙 FULL RECOVERY TRAINING – BATCH 2 💪

Our Peak 4x4 Response members have been out today for the second batch of 8 members completing our full recovery training.

The session brought together both new and established members, giving everyone the opportunity to build their knowledge, develop their recovery skills and work safely as a team.

For our established members, the training also provides an important refresher, ensuring that skills and procedures remain up to date and everyone is confident when called upon to assist.

A big thank you to everyone who gave up their time to attend and get involved. 👏

Trained. Prepared. Ready to respond. 🚙💨
