When Martin was referred to Age Better Bucks, he was feeling anxious about leaving his flat.

One of our Community Support Connectors took the time to understand Martin, what mattered most to him, what he wanted to work towards and where a little support could make things feel more manageable.

Rather than simply giving Martin a list of services, they explored practical ways forward together. With the right information, support and encouragement, they identified small, manageable next steps towards Martin’s goals – from exploring a local snooker club and community café to getting support with his food shopping.

Do you love a good natter over a slice of cake, especially when it leads to connection, support and belonging? ☕🍰

We’re looking for a Community Engagement, Outreach and Events Coordinator to help grow our Coffee Cake and Company groups across Buckinghamshire.

You’ll meet older people, build friendships between neighbours, run events, and support a brilliant team of volunteers. For lots of the people you’ll meet, your group might be the only thing in their week.

👉🏼 3 days a week, 12-month contract, £26,125 FTE.

The clocks go back this Sunday, which hopefully means an extra hour in bed, and darker evenings from teatime onwards.

A few small things worth doing this weekend ahead of time:
💡 Check the lights in your hallway and on the stairs
🧹 A quick garden and path sweep up to avoid slips and trips!
📞 Call someone you haven't spoken to for a while to check in - this time of year can be tricky for many of us for lots of reasons
