🙌 You could be exactly what a young person needs right now.

Think back to someone who made a difference to you when you were growing up. A leader, a coach, a mentor someone who believed in you.

You could be that person for a child in your community.

This week is Volunteer Week, and our Scout group run entirely by volunteers just like you is looking for a few more brilliant people to join the team.

You don’t need experience. You don’t need qualifications. You just need to show up.

Because here’s the truth: the young people in our group don’t need perfection. They need you; your stories, your skills, your time.

👉 Ask yourself:

• Do you remember what it felt like to be part of something?
• Could you spare a few hours a month?
• Would you like to feel that what you do genuinely matters?

If you answered yes to even one of those this is for you.

Whether you love the outdoors, have a passion for canoeing, walking, or just want to make a real difference in a young person’s life there’s a place for you here.

The young people who walk through our doors this year will remember their time in Scouts for the rest of their lives. That memory could involve you.

Drop us a message today. We’ll reply straight away. 💛

One small step from you. A giant leap for a young person’s future. 🌟

🏹🎯 A historic night for the group!

Tonight marked a first not just for our unit, but for the entire Scout group. For the very first time, we ran archery and rifle shooting simultaneously, in the same building, on the same night.

A huge thank you to our brilliant leaders who made it happen from the clever use of the space to transforming both halls into fully functioning ranges. No small feat!

As for the young people? Well, the equipment may have had a little dust on it but they certainly didn’t. They picked up right where they left off, showing fantastic precision and focus across both ranges.

A brilliant evening all round! 🌟

What an incredible week our Cubs have had on Cub Camp! ☀️🏕️

The sunshine has been out in full force, making it the perfect few days for adventure, teamwork, and outdoor fun.

Our Cubs have been making memories across a packed programme of activities, including joining Scouts from across the district at Carnival Camp, exploring the beautiful surroundings of Collage Lake, and heading over to Willen Lake and PACCAR Scout Camp for some fantastic adventurous activities.

From outdoor learning and team challenges to trying new experiences and building confidence, this is exactly what Scouting is all about giving young people opportunities to grow, explore, and create memories that will last a lifetime.

A massive thank you goes to all of our amazing volunteers and leaders who gave up their half term to organise, support, and run the camp. Without dedicated volunteers, opportunities like this simply wouldn’t happen.

And finally… we need your help settling an important Cub Camp debate 👀

Are Liam and Julia deep in conversation… or having a quick sleep? 😂

🎯 Catapults, cookie dough, and a cracking end to the term!

This week, the Explorers put their pioneering skills to the test and built their own catapults then took aim with a dodgeball twist. Plenty of lashings, problem-solving, and (mostly) accurate launches later, we had some seriously impressive builds. 🪵

To finish off, we ditched the usual marshmallows in favour of cookie dough twists and chocolate brownies (even if the brownie got a bit crispy) over the fire a proper upgrade. 🍪🍫

Great effort from everyone this half term. Enjoy the break! 🏕️

🏎️ Remember when an RC car was the coolest thing you’d ever owned?

This week the unit dusted ours off and put them through their paces:

🏁 Relay races to get the hang of those wild steering wheels

🎠 RC dressage (yes, really!)

🦛 Our own version of Hungry Hippos

🤖 A grand finale Robot Wars battle

A brilliant reminder that the best evenings often come from the simplest ideas.

No screens, no apps just laughter, a bit of healthy competition, and young people learning teamwork without even realising it.

Engineering brilliance on full display at our Scout HQ this week 🔧👏

A huge shoutout to our Troop Leader, Kevin, whose creativity and practical skills have brought something special to life for our group.

Designing and building a custom pulley system from scratch, Kevin has helped transform how we deliver activities at HQ making sessions more efficient, safer to run, and giving our young people more time to get hands-on.

Thanks to this innovative setup, archery and rifle shooting can now become a more consistent part of our Scouting programme, helping develop focus, discipline, and confidence in a fun and engaging way.

This is Scouting at its best combining engineering, problem-solving, and volunteering to create better experiences for all of our young people.

A brilliant example of going above and beyond to support young people and our local community.

Massive thank you, Kevin incredible effort and impact 🙌

Our Cubs have been getting stuck into their Gardening Badge this week! 🌻

With gloves on and green fingers at the ready, our Cubs took on the slightly overgrown flower bed at the side of our Scout HQ and completely transformed the space.

They cleared, tidied, planted sunflower seeds, and helped create an area we can all enjoy watching grow over the coming weeks and months.

This wasn’t just about earning a badge. It was about teamwork, outdoor skills, community spirit, and taking pride in our Scout Headquarters a space that supports Beavers, Cubs, Scouts, Explorers, volunteers, and the wider local community.

A brilliant effort from our young people and another great example of Scouting in action: learning new skills, looking after our environment, and making a positive difference.

Well done Cubs the space looks fantastic! 🌱👏

Tonight, as part of our game show-themed half term, the unit headed Down Under for our very own I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! evening.

The young people took on a series of brilliant challenges, including food trials featuring BBQ crickets, a fun take on Celebrity Cyclone (minus the water!), and a range of search-and-find style challenges that tested their nerve, teamwork and determination.

Thanks to Ludlows of Chinnor for supplying the Offal it went down as expected!

We also said goodbye to one of the original members of the unit, Hannah, when we started up back in 2022 and we were pleased to present her with her Diamond Award!

What a fantastic weekend for our group at Endurance and now the results are in, we can properly celebrate some brilliant achievements!

A huge well done to our Cubs, with Team A finishing 2nd and Team B finishing 21st out of 62 teams taking part. An amazing effort from both teams and a result they should be incredibly proud of.

Our Scout Troop also did brilliantly in E40 Unaccompanied, with Team 1 finishing 2nd in a superb time of 11.02, and Team 2 finishing in 11.51. A fantastic performance from both teams.

In the overall E40 results, including accompanied groups, Team 1 placed 18th and Team 2 placed 36th out of 49 teams.

A massive congratulations to everyone who took part. These events take determination, teamwork and resilience, and it’s great to see all of that hard work reflected in such strong results.
