💚 69 Scout Volunteers 33 Wombles and a Mayor = 1 Amazing Community!

🧹A massive shoutout to 1st Aylesbury Scouts and our wonderful family members, and the incredible Aylesbury Wombles for an epic joint litter pick today!
We were absolutely honored to have Sherrilyn A Bateman, Mayor of Aylesbury join our massive team of volunteers. Together, we rolled up our sleeves, grabbed our litter pickers, and worked hard to make our local area cleaner, greener, and safer for everyone.
Our young people truly lived out the Scout values today by taking active care of our environment.

A huge thank you to the Aylesbury Wombles for letting us join you on your epic event, to the Mayor for the fantastic support, and to every single family member who came out to make a difference!

That's a wrap on our 2026 Scout AGM!

⚜️A huge thank you to all the young people, parents, Leaders and Trustees who joined us last night. We celebrated an incredible year of adventure, growth, and community impact.

Big shoutout to our amazing young people who received awards—your hard work makes us incredibly proud! You'll be able to check out the 2026 awardees on our trophies in our hallway if you're a member of the group!!

1️⃣ We were also thrilled to celebrate Flo, Neha, Yasir and Danni from the Squirrels teams marking their first year of volunteering.

1️⃣To Kerry and Carrie from Cubs, Kat from Beavers and Lee on our Trustee Board who also celebrated their first year of volunteering with us at 1st Aylesbury.

Gordon from our District team presented awards to three of our team:

5️⃣ Simon, a Cubs Team Member received his 5 year Service Award.

📿 Matt, a Scouts Team Leader received his Wood Beads and his Gilwell Park Scout Group scarf and woggle.

🏅Sarah, the Group Lead Volunteer received the Award of Metit .

Do you know about Gilwell Reunion?

This past weekend saw the annual Reunion event at the home of UK Scouting at Gilwell Park. The event celebrated its landmark 100th anniversary this year, marking a century of volunteers connecting at this adults-only event.

The event acts as a giant celebration, a practical training camp, and an ideas hub. Originally established in 1921 to reunite leaders who had completed their Wood Badge training, its now a major festival open to all adult volunteers looking to energise their local Scout programs.

The weekend balances skills development with massive social and networking elements, it features an extensive lineup of workshops, demonstrations, and guest exhibitors. Volunteers can learn practical like fire-lighting and bushcraft or attend modules on how to safely take a troop of Scouts abroad.

Volunteers get to experience the activities themselves. You can try rock climbing, scuba diving, zip wires, and high-ropes courses to build your own outdoor confidence. It is the ultimate forum to meet like-minded volunteers. You can chat with leaders from other regions, swap success stories, and discover new activities or trip ideas to bring back to your local Group.

Social & Evening Events: The atmosphere is highly social. Evenings feature live music, quizzes, a silent disco, and the chance to relax with friends at volunteer-run pop-up pubs.

Don’t just watch the adventure—be part of it!

Our Scout group is looking for enthusiastic volunteers to join our team.

If you think Scouting is just for young people, think again! Our volunteers get stuck into the very same exciting activities, from archery, cooking on campfires and kayaking to outdoor survival skills.

You do not need any prior Scouting experience or a massive weekly commitment. We offer flexible roles to fit your busy schedule, whether you want to be right in the action or helping out behind the scenes.

Why Volunteer?

⚜️ Make a difference: Help local youth gain vital skills for life.

If you love the great outdoors, want to learn new skills, or just fancy an excuse to act like a big kid again, we have a spot around the campfire for you!
We’re hosting an Open Morning, and you’re officially invited to come and see what volunteering with us is all about.

👉 No experience needed. Just bring your enthusiasm (and your sense of humour)!

Your next great outdoor adventure is waiting. No experience required!

Did you know its not just our young people who get to take part in our adventurous activities?

Brian, Chris and Matt are Cub and Scout leaders and they all enjoyed their recent kayaking trips.

We certainly had the weather for it this year!!

At our next Open Morning on Saturday September 12th, we are particularly interested in meeting adults for a couple of our sections, one of which meet on Mondays.

🔵 Beavers - young people are between 6-8 years old.

🔵 They enjoy making new friends, exploring, camping, crafts and playing games.

🔵 They are full of enthusiasm and love getting together each week to take part in activities together to earn lots of badges!

🔵 They are great fun and are very welcoming !!!

Come along and see how volunteering is flexible and can fit around you. You'll meet some of our team and find out about some of the activities they get up to.

Our Scout Centre has just had the pleasure of a pit stop from Maya, an Explorer Scout from Norfolk.
Maya is off to the World Scout Jamboree and is completing The Great British Scout Hut Challenge as part of her Unit fundraising.
It was a pleasure to meet Maya and her family, she was presented with one of our scarves and some section tapes and even a Jamboree badge from Japan as Rhys, one of our Scout leaders took part as a participant.

Photos were taken to mark the exciting Challenge before wishing her well as she headed off to the next Hut on her list!!
