Today, we celebrate more than a birthday.
We celebrate a force. A builder. A pillar.

You have shown what it means to give your time, your energy, and your heart to something bigger than yourself.

YAGYDI is stronger because of you.
Affinity Innovative Hub is standing because of you.

You didn’t just support the vision.
You carried it.

You showed up when it was hard.
You stayed when others left.
That matters.

Many people talk about impact.
You live it.

Every young person reached
Every life touched
Every step forward
Your fingerprints are there.

As you mark another year today:

May your strength never run dry
May your efforts return to you in greater measure

May doors open for you in ways you never expected

May you never lose the fire that makes you who you are

Take a moment today and look at what you’ve helped build.

It is real. It is growing. And it is changing lives.

You are not just part of the story.

You are one of the reasons the story exists.

Happy Birthday Peng.
Keep going

At Young and Gifted Youth Development Initiative (YAGYDI), we believe that literacy is more than a skill — it is a gateway to choice, confidence, and opportunity.

When a girl gains access to reading, counting numbers, and learning, transformation begins.

Literacy equips young minds to think critically, make informed decisions, and imagine new possibilities for their futures.
It strengthens resilience, reduces vulnerability, and opens pathways to education, leadership, and decent work. But the impact extends far beyond one learner.

Educated girls become adults who uplift their families and invest back into their communities.
Every book, every lesson, and every learning space contributes to a cycle of progress that carries forward for generations.

Through the Community Literacy Accelerator & Education Program (CLAEP), we are committed to:

📘 Expanding access to reading materials (donate please)
🌍 Supporting inclusive learning environments (help to equip our learning skills lab)
👧 Promoting gender-responsive literacy programs (donate please)
📈 Strengthening community-led education initiatives (donate please)
💡 Equipping young people with lifelong skills for a changing world, when we empower girls to read, we reimagine what whole communities can become — healthier, stronger, and more equitable (we are doing this with https://www.skillsbuilder.org/).

Together, we are shaping futures. Together, we are building a world where every child has the power to learn, lead, and thrive.

PRESS STATEMENT

Young and Gifted Youth Development Initiative (YAGYDI)

We express deep concern over the recent rise in insecurity across Kwara State, which has led to the precautionary closure of the Kwara State College of Education, Oro, and several primary and secondary schools.

Protecting students and educators must always remain a priority. However, repeated disruptions to schooling place thousands of learners at risk of prolonged learning loss. For many communities already facing limited access to education, extended shutdowns widen inequality and increase the vulnerability of young people to harmful influences.

When schools close without alternative learning pathways, children lose structure, support, and opportunity. The long-term effect goes beyond missed lessons. It affects confidence, future employability, and the development of the state’s human capital.

Education must not become a casualty of insecurity.

We urge a shift from emergency closures alone toward resilient learning approaches that allow education to continue safely during periods of risk. This includes structured remote learning options, community-based learning support, and coordinated engagement between education authorities, communities, and civil society.

Every child deserves continuity in learning, even in difficult times.

Signed,
Young and Gifted Youth Development Initiative (YAGYDI)
