We're a membership charity and are passionate about making sure that people living with glaucoma have a say in how and where their care and treatment is delivered. We provide a host of support services to help people at all stages of their glaucoma journey, but we're also here for the professionals too - providing support and resources and helping them keep in touch with what matters most to people with glaucoma. How do we help people with glaucoma? We provide a range of services to help people living with glaucoma:
• A telephone helpline, open Monday to Friday, 9.30am-5.00pm. Run by an ophthalmic nurse, our helpline is here to help with any queries about glaucoma or related conditions, such as dry eye or blepharitis. Call 01233 648 170 or email [email protected].
• The Glaucoma UK website: www.glaucoma.uk holds lots of key information, resources and advice for those who are looking for support.
• Our information leaflets contain useful tips and advice on living with glaucoma, and are available to order for free via our website.
• A useful patient forum, where individuals can chat to other people with glaucoma, share their experiences and ask questions. Visit: https://healthunlocked.com/glaucoma-uk to join our community.
• A buddy service for people who might be having surgery or laser treatment, and want to talk to someone who has already experienced the treatment. Contact our helpline for more advice.
• We organise glaucoma support groups, in-person across the UK and online. Additionally, we host events where members can hear from glaucoma experts and share their own experiences. Our Glaucoma Awareness Week, held at the end of June, is a key event of the year. We use this week to amplify the voices of people living with glaucoma in the UK, and to campaign for improved quality of care and services at local and national levels.
