Beavers, Cubs & Scouts at Ashby Hastings Scout Group take part in a huge range of exciting activities, whether at the Scout Hut in Ashby de la Zouch, Willesley Campsite or further afield. Adult volunteers always welcome: you can give as little or as much of your time as you choose! Delivering to young people in Ashby de la Zouch & surrounding villages.

Redwood Beavers had a great time this week doing some backwoods cooking outside in the sunshine - they all enjoyed making fahita pizzas and chocolate bananas along with a few games and campfire songs thrown in 🦫🦫🔥🔥 Thanks for all the help to the parents who stayed 🙂

Tonight Redwood Beavers spent time meeting the Firefighters at Ashby Fire Station learning about what causes fire and how to prevent them and what Firefighters do. The Beavers enjoyed climbing into the engine and squirting the fire hose. Huge thankyou to from the Beavers Leaders and Parents 🚒🚒🚒

We'd like to invite any 8- 10-year-olds and their families to our free Open Evening. Do some activities and talk about young people joining, with adults to help us along the way.

From our youngest Squirrels to our Scouts and Explorers, new King Scouts who represented us at Windsor, we all came together yesterday at Conkers to take part in the St George’s Day parade.

Ashby Hastings has grown so much in the last year, but no matter your age or stage in your scouting journey, everyone belongs.

We’re so proud of every one of our young people.

Our Cubs and Scouts took on Rambling Fox on Sunday… and our Cubs came home as overall winners. Thank you to our leaders for being there and backing them all the way. A proper team effort.

We opened a second Squirrels Drey in January, and Thursday was our first session back after Easter.

The room was full of excitement as our 4 and 5-year-olds saw each other again after two weeks apart. After a few bean bag toss games, things slowed down just enough to draw and share what they’d been up to over the holidays. We heard about trips to Australia and London, birthday parties, and someone who saw tigers at the zoo.

These sessions only run because people muck in. If you’ve got an hour or two spare on a Thursday, you’d be very welcome to help. No experience needed, just an extra pair of hands.

Today was World Art Day and our Squirrels spent the evening getting stuck into their crafts.

We started with playdough, then moved on to leaf bashing for pencil cases, painting with a salad spinner, and all-about-me collages. There was colour everywhere, busy tables, and plenty of “look what I made” moments.

Who knew a salad spinner could make such masterpieces? Bramble did.

The Squirrels are out looking for where the Easter bunny’s hidden their eggs.
The Beavers are hoping a few get stuck in the dam.
The Cubs are camping out somewhere in the woods, on its tail.
The Scouts are tracking its every move.

We’re on Easter break for a couple of weeks, so no sessions for a couple of weeks. We’ll be back at the hut soon and hopefully with a bit more time outside... should Spring ever show up! ☀️
