πŸ†πŸŽ¨ Congratulations to all the children who took part in this year’s Children’s Creativity Competition, kindly sponsored by Specsavers, whose continued support we greatly appreciate.

This year, children were invited to create and describe their own wild creature – found on land, in the sea or in the sky – telling us what it was called, where it lived and what it liked to eat. We were delighted to receive hundreds of imaginative entries filled with creativity, humour and wonderful storytelling.

Judges Di Lorriman and Katy Ferrari faced the difficult task of selecting winners from an outstanding collection of entries. Awards were presented to James Bush, Archie Bowman, Charlotte Sands, Ivy Ellis, Hudson Bunniss, Daisy Roberts, Florence Ellis, Darragh Bridge, Ernests Ragainis, Imogen Davies and Roux Godlington.

Congratulations to our category winners:
πŸ… Preschool Winner – James Bush
πŸ… Infant Winner – Ivy Ellis
πŸ… Junior Winner – Roux Godlington

A special congratulations goes to Roux Godlington, who was also chosen as the Overall Winner of the Specsavers Creativity Cup and will hold the shield for the coming year.

Thank you to every child who entered. Your imagination, effort and artistic talent made this year's competition a joy to judge.

Many of the wonderful entries can be viewed in the windows of Specsavers, the Library and the Tourist Information Centre, while the winning entries are on display in the Toolbox window.

🎬 The Grand Finale of Ashby Arts Festival 2026! 🎬

Ashby Arts Festival is delighted to welcome Pudding Bag Productions for the final event of this year’s festival – an entertaining evening of locally made films, brought to life by this talented community heritage group.

Pudding Bag Productions is run entirely by volunteers and creates short historical dramas and original comedies inspired by local stories, people and places. Their annual Quick Flicks showcase is a chance to see the films they have produced over the past year on the big screen.

This year's programme includes:

🎭 The Shoe Strike Girl – a powerful true story set in 1913, following 19-year-old Olive as she finds herself at the centre of a strike at the CWS boot and shoe factory in Enderby.

πŸ˜‚ Here I Am – an original comedy by Mark Taylor, where two couples meet in an Ashby cafΓ©, leading to plenty of awkward moments and unexpected twists.

πŸ“– Samuel Shaw – the story of the Presbyterian minister who, after being forced out of the church during the Restoration, went on to become one of the most successful and respected headmasters of Ashby Grammar School.
