HOPE Organic Garden & Shop

HOPE Organic Garden & Shop We are a charity helping adults with learning disabilities to garden organically. We also have a shop where we sell the organic vegetables and fruit.

HOPE is an organic gardening charitable trust on the east coast of Scotland. Our objectives are to:

Offer horticultural training and work experience for adults living in Angus with learning disabilities
Provide opportunities for social, educational and recreational activities for our trainees
Supply the local community with organically grown fruit and vegetables
HOPE was set up in 1994 by Cedric

de Voil, a local GP, who saw the benefits of gardening for people with disabilities. HOPE continues to welcome trainees every year offering individuals support and mentoring. All our trainees live in the local Angus area. Working in our garden has many mental and physical benefits and improves the skills of our trainees:

Building self-confidence
Encouraging creativity
Improving motor skills
Helping to reduce stress levels
Developing better co-ordination
Increasing fitness and ability
Being part of HOPE brings many social benefits to trainees and their families.

Its finally time to introduce Hope's newest Trainees, Cedric and Fee.
these two came to us in December via Cats Protection Arbroath & Central Angus working cats rehoming scheme and have really settled in to the job of providing high quality pest control across the site! They are still quite timid at times so it makes it extra special when they choose to come say hello.

Thank you to the Friockheim & District Garden Club who braved rain and hail to visit Hope this afternoon. Head gardener Tom led the group around the site and spoke about some of the planting and activities with trainees/volunteers at the garden, followed by a chance to pick up some new plants in our shop.
