We’re looking forward to welcoming you all to Ysgol Maes Y Gwendraeth (SA14 7DT) on 10th October for what promises to be a fantastic day of brass banding! 🎶🎺

FIRST BAND ON STAGE AT 9.30am!

We’re delighted to welcome Brett Baker and Christopher Bond as our adjudicators for the day, adjudicating alternate sections.

We’re also thrilled to welcome David Hayward, who will be keeping the day running smoothly as our compere!

What’s your WORST contest day mishap?! 😂

We’re talking:

🎺 Turning up with a case but no instrument
📖 Leaving the music at home /or in the bandroom
🫠 Forgetting the sharp… despite playing it 47 times in rehearsal
🚗 Getting stuck in traffic and arriving approximately 14 seconds before you’re due to play
🥁 The percussionist discovering something important is missing
🎺 A valve deciding that today is the day it retires
😳 Or that glorious moment when your brain simply says “Nope.”

This weekend saw us take part in the National Brass Band Championships of Great Britain and come 4th! It is an achievement that we are all so very proud of. 🎉🎉

A huge thankyou must go to everyone who has supported us on our way. To attending concerts, giving words of encouragement and sponsoring our band members to climb Pen-Y-Fan. We could not have done it without you. 🥾⛰️

A massive thank you must also go to our MD, Alex Parker, whose dedication, hard work and commitment have challenged and pushed us to become the band we are today. We know we can sometimes push your buttons! 😂 But we are incredibly grateful for all the hard work that goes on behind the scenes to help us achieve what we do. 🎶

And finally, a massive congratulations to Cwmtawe Brass, who came 8th in their section on Sunday! 👏🎺

It was fantastic to see Welsh banding represented so well over the weekend. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿❤️

Here’s to the memories, the music, the hard work and everything still to come! 🎺💙💛

A massive thankyou to Slaithwaite Band for allowing us to rehearse in your space this afternoon.

Our final rehearsal has now happened and tomorrow awaits!! Here’s to making some great music and hopefully bringing home a prize 🎼 🎵🎶

A huge congratulations to our very own Stacey for completing her Pen-y-Fan hike on this miserable day! 🥾🌧️

Stacey took on the challenge to help raise funds towards the band’s trip to York next weekend for the National Brass Band Finals. 🎺🏆

It would be amazing to see the total raised pass £1,000 in recognition of her brave efforts! 💙💛 A little goes a long way!
