💦🐾 Sir David's Guide to Adventure: Toe Dipping! 🐾💦

Our handsome Sir David was busy testing the waters at the local nature reserve last week, demonstrating his excellent "toe dipping" technique. As you can see, he's a big fan of exploring new places, taking in the sights, and enjoying a little paddle along the way!

This adventurous boy is looking for a fun-loving family who will take him on exciting walks, woodland wanders, lakeside strolls, and plenty more toe-dipping expeditions. Whether it's discovering new trails, playing with his favourite toys, or simply enjoying the great outdoors together, Sir David is ready to be your loyal adventure buddy.

☀️☀️☀️The Sun Has Got It's Hat On Once More ☀️☀️☀️

And whilst it's always nice to feel the rays on our backs, there's no doubt that our hounds at the Centre can struggle somewhat with the high temperatures 🥵

The team do everything possible to keep our dogs as comfortable as they can be, and Lucy, one of our committed volunteers at Hillcrest, has often played a part in implementing our cooling measures 🙏 She's now trying to help us do that little bit more by raising some much needed funds for more dog (and human!) cooling equipment 💚 She's already raised enough money for us to source the equivalent of:

🐾 4 Industrial Fans or
🐾10 Cooling Jackets or
🐾 12 Large Cooling Mats or
🐾 4 Foldable Dog Pools

But...she'd like to be able to provide more....with a little help from friends 🫵 🫵

☀️🧊 SUMMER COOLING FUND FOR GREYHOUNDS 🐶💚

I’ve set up a little fundraiser to help me buy summer cooling & comfort items for the amazing dogs (and humans!) at Greyhound Rescue Wales 🐾

With temperatures already hitting 30+°C, I’d love to help provide things like crate fans 🚐💨 cooling mats ❄️ frozen enrichment 🧊 and shade & comfort items to help keep the hounds safe and comfortable this summer ☀️

I’ve volunteered with GRW every Thursday for over 2 years and I see every week just how hard the staff work to care for these dogs 🐶 they truly deserve a little extra support during the hotter months 🩷

This Sunday we have a wonderful story from Andy and Lyn about their journey with Lili 💚

"Well it’s nearly a year since we brought Lili home to Gloucester. She made herself at home immediately! You told us that she was bomb- proof and actually yes she is - nothing seems to phase her! Fireworks/thunderstorms, she takes it all in her stride. Lili is such a happy dog and enjoys nothing more than being with us. She’s a real foodie and will do just about anything for a treat. We take her on regular sighthound walks and she is now an ambassadog for Forever Hounds, promoting the virtues of greyhounds. Everyone loves her and we can’t imagine life without her. Thank you for introducing us. Here are a couple of photos of our beautiful girl."

As the sun sets on another day of fundraising in our Big Raise for Greys month. We say a huge thank you to Simon and Lee who completed their 3 Peaks Challenge for us today.

The Challenge was to do the 3 Welsh Peaks in 24 hours. They were aiming to have it completed in 17 hours. Their actual times were amazing:

Snowdon 3hrs 52mins
Cadir Idris 3hrs 38mins
Penyfan 1hr 54 mins
Total time taken for challenge 14hrs 8mins 👏👏

Thank you both for taking on the challenge and for your tireless fundraising efforts 👏👏👏
