Explorers Thursdays 7-9pm (split between Pitlochry and Aberfeldy)

There has been a Scout Group in Aberfeldy since September 1909 and were originally called the Menzies Scout Group, we are now the 17th Perthshire (Aberfeldy) Scout Group.

A very challenging last night of term for our scouts this evening: twenty youth members took part in a series of puzzle- and problem solving activities that led to the solution of a locked emergency kit 🧩🧐

Every patrol managed to unlock it within the deadline of one hour! Tent escape room meeting completed ⛺✅⚜️

Seven of our oldest Scouts spent the weekend on a canoe expedition on Loch Tay. They had a fantastic time, despite the rain today! 🛶🌧️

Our Scouts get the chance to take part in an expedition each year, although it’s usually on foot. So we were delighted when cub leader Will came forward and offered to help organise a canoe expedition this year. Thank you and well done all! 👏⚜️

Wow! Did you know that Aberfeldy has it's own tweed mill? Scouts were very privileged this week to visit the Glen Lyon Tweed Mill. Huge thanks to Isaac for showing us around and answer the many questions our scouts had. Scouts are currently working on their Scottish Scout Thistle Award, and learning about a Scottish industry is part of this. We had a great time! 🧵🧶⚜️

We made the best of the autumn sunshine last night by being out in the open air for our Cyclist badge. The Beavers learnt the different parts of the bike and how to pump up a flat tyre and enjoyed a cycle round the FeldyRoo trail. Thanks so much to Mark for coming to share his bike knowledge with the Beavers.

📣 We Need You – Aberfeldy Scouts Need Trustees!

Aberfeldy Scout Group urgently need 3–4 new Trustees to help make sure we can continue running Beavers, Cubs and Scouts in our community.

Being a Trustee isn’t an onerous role – the Board meets around four times a year, and you don’t need to know anything about Scouting to get involved. You’ll be supported to get started and will help provide oversight of the Scout Hut and equipment, finances, activities and safety.

You could be a parent, family member or simply a member of our local community who wants to make a difference.

A fantastic night out in Perth for our scouts on Tuesday. We did a treasure hunt and discovered all sorts of historical facts we didn't know before. Do you recognise all these places? 🥰⚜️

(We had double the number of scouts pictured but the other group was so busy puzzling they forgot to take photos 😅)

Scouts had a great second meeting of term going for a 12km bike ride last night. 🚵

Our faster cyclists waited for the slower ones without having to be told to do so, and older scouts helped younger ones when needed by giving them moral support and also when technical help was required! 🛠️

It was just brilliant to see their teamspirit, and fantastic to see all scouts complete the full route. We even managed to get back in time 🙈😅

Scouts had a great first night back with a visit from local ranger Jeannie Ranger who told us all about how to enjoy the countryside responsibly. We were sad to hear about how some people really do not respect our beautiful country while camping! Did you know the items most left behind by wild campers (apart from general rubbish) were socks?! 🧦

After juice and biscuits some scouts headed into town for a litter pick while some of the older ones planned their upcoming canoe expedition which was very exciting! We finished the meeting by investing two new members 🎉⚜️

Scouts did a great job manning two feed stations at the Aberfeldy Multi-Sport Festival triathlon today. We loved supporting the runners and cheering them on! 👏

Well done to all athletes, with a special mention to our very own leader Stephen Rawlinson 🌟 who ran his first triathlon today, loudly cheered on by us of course. Congratulations all!! 🏃
