We are delighted to share that one of our Trustees, Nicola Swaffield, has made a valuable contribution to the latest publication from the Caroline Walker Trust, 'Eating Well for People with Learning Disabilities'. (Second Edition).

This respected guide combines evidence-based nutrition with practical advice to help families, carers, healthcare professionals and support workers improve nutritional care and wellbeing for people with learning disabilities.

Nicola, who has a degree in Diet and Health, supported the review of the publication and shared her perspective as both a professional and parent/carer in a recent webinar. Her contribution highlights the value of combining professional expertise with lived experience to create guidance that is both practical and impactful.

This week is Learning Disability week and we support Mencap's 2026 theme, "Do you see me?"

Developed by people with a learning disability, the theme is a call for greater recognition, inclusion and understanding. It highlights the importance of people with a learning disability being seen, heard and valued, while encouraging positive change in how society recognises and celebrates their contributions.

At the Camphill Foundation UK & Ireland, we believe that everyone should have the opportunity to participate fully in community life and to make choices about how they live, learn and work. Independence and freedom of choice are made possible throughout Camphill with the right support, meaningful relationships and opportunities to contribute.

Through the generosity of our supporters, we help resource community led projects across the UK, Ireland and beyond. From supported living and life-long learning, to meaningful work, arts, health & wellbeing, these initiatives help create environments where people with learning disabilities can develop their skills, pursue their interests and play an active role in the communities.

Attendees from around the world are beginning to arrive at this year’s International Camphill Youth Conference, hosted by The Mount Camphill Community

The Camphill Foundation UK & Ireland is delighted to be sponsoring this year’s event!

The Youth Conference has a well-established history spanning back to the 1970s. Over the years, these conferences have fostered lasting friendships and a strong sense of connection between individuals and communities around the world. It is an important event that continues to strengthen the network of people surrounding the Camphill Movement and inspires a new generation to engage with its values and shape its future.

This year’s theme, “Michaelic Youth: Connection, Courage, Belonging” reflects the spirit of The Mount where the presence of the Archangel Michael is deeply felt, not only with the statue on top of their hall but in their daily lives as a vibrant, youthful community - living, learning, and working together. The conference will explore how qualities such as boldness, bravery, discovery and community can inspire and inform everyday life.

Watch this space for more updates throughout the 4-day event!
