The last opportunity for local people to have a say in the Local Plan is this Friday (September 25th).

It may sound dramatic but if the mega development goes ahead on the fields between Abbots Road and the M25, Abbots Langley will never be the same again.
👥 Thousands more people
🚘 Thousands more cars
🚌 Long journeys to secondary school
🩺 Stressed Health Services
🚧 6 Years of roadworks and construction
🦡 Wildlife trapped between the M25 and a housing estate
🏘️ Buildings instead of open space to enjoy
💨 Pollution instead of nature

Now is the time to use your voice

The deadline to submit your comments on the Local Plan is this Friday. If you are concerned about the impact of thousands of new homes and agree that Abbots cannot cope with this level of development, come along on Tuesday evening and we will explain what is happening and what you can do to help stop it!

How is everyone getting on with their response to the Regulation 19 consultation?

The portal closes on 25 September, so there’s still time to have your say. https://haveyoursay.threerivers.gov.uk/local-plan-regulation-19-consultation

If you need any help in understanding the process, we’re hosting another workshop at the Royal Oak on Tuesday 22 September, 7-8.30. Pop in for a for a chat.

Some people have queried why we’re focussing on H9 (fields behind Abbots Road). To clarify, this is because legal advice is to question the soundness of this part of the Local Plan. We want the Plan reviewed and revised. If we attempt to get it thrown out completely, there is a high risk that an alternative Plan would be even worse across the whole town, with any number of developments opening up.

H9 is by far the largest development in the Plan, with the biggest impact on healthcare, schooling, highways, utilities and ecology. If we are successful in getting the Inspector to review this part, the Local Plan might work out better for us.

The alternative is very worrying indeed.

Overview The Local Plan is the main planning document(s) prepared by local planning authorities, under statutory requirements. It outlines a council’s long term planning framework with strategic and non-strategic planning policies. The Local Plan provides policy

📣 ACTION REQUIRED! 📣

If you use the fields, please ensure that you have completed the brief survey below. If you could share it with others who use the fields too, that would be just perfect!

We’ll be at Elvira’s today, midday-2pm.

We can help you understand how you can make sure your views on the prospect of 900 houses being built on green belt land are heard.

Drop in to meet members of our non-political group whose aim is to do what we can to safeguard the character of our community and protect against disproportionate building without plans for the infrastructure that would be needed.

Call to action!

The field use survey (link below) is hugely important and we need your help to ensure that we get to as many field users as possible.

Can we ask that you share this link with your local friends, family, neighbours, whatsapp groups, walking groups etc etc etc?

It only takes a minute or two to complete and could really help us to demonstrate that the fields are both valued and used by a huge number of local people.

Thank you in advance!

As you may be aware, the government have intervened in the Three Rivers District Council's local plan and as a result, the fields behind Abbots Road have been earmarked for 1125 houses. The Abbots Langley Association are asking residents to complete this survey so that we can get a better understand...

Time is running out to make your voice heard.
Our final opportunity to have input into the Three Rivers Local Plan is fast approaching.
Come along to one of the workshops where we can talk you through the process.
We won’t tell you what to write, we won’t preach. We simply want everyone in our community to know how they can share their views. The more of us that respond, the better.
Don’t leave it too late, don’t leave it ‘because it won’t make any difference’. Have your say.
