Strong organisations are built on accountability.

PITAA's latest online short course saw tax officials from across the Pacific come together to explore what it means to take responsibility, follow through on commitments, and contribute to a culture of accountability in the workplace.

Delivered by The University of the South Pacific (USP) on 1 September and supported through funding from the Australian Government's Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT), the workshop focused on practical tools for setting goals, delegating effectively, providing feedback, and building stronger, more accountable teams.

Small actions. Clear expectations. Greater accountability. Stronger organisations.

We are counting down to the 2026 PITAA Annual Heads Meeting, hosted by the Bureau of Revenue & Taxation, Palau. The meeting will be held from 21–23 September 2026 at the Ngarachamayong Cultural Center, Koror.

𝐏𝐈𝐓𝐀𝐀 𝐝𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐢𝐭𝐬 𝐟𝐢𝐫𝐬𝐭 𝐨𝐧𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐫𝐭 𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐬𝐞 🎓

Delivered online with The University of the South Pacific and funded by the Australian Government through DFAT under a 2-year grant programme to build soft skills capacity for Pacific tax officers, PITAA has delivered its first online short course. 🎓

On 25 August, 14 tax officials from 9 PITAA member administrations completed HR Conflict Resolution – Dealing With Difficult People.

Participants left able to:
✅ Recognise how their own attitudes shape difficult interactions
✅ Apply a three-step conflict resolution model in the workplace
✅ Manage anger, their own and others', assertively and professionally
✅ Use practical de-stressing techniques when situations escalate

Each participant leaves with an action plan, and supervisors will be contacted in two months to see it in practice.

Of the 14 participants, 71% were women and 29% were men.

Seven more courses run through to March 2027 — HR, business writing, AI for productivity and data analytics.

Sub-theme 3 focuses on strengthening partnerships and capability across Pacific revenue administrations, together. This will be explored through a panel discussion on:

•Building Sustainable Tax Administrations through Regional Partnerships — A Pacific Blueprint for Inclusive Growth, moderated by PITAA with panelists from ADB, OECD, and PFTAC

PITAA was delighted to host a delegation from the Ministry of Revenue & Customs Tonga as part of their study tour to the Fiji Revenue and Customs Service.

Discussions focused on the Pacific One-Stop Shop (POSS) Framework and its implementation, with valuable contributions from Brian Lu and Gary Artuso of the Australian Taxation Office (ATO), and Ro McCrossin of DFAT.

Together, we continue to strengthen regional cooperation and support digital transformation across Pacific tax administrations.
