Land Based Learning and the Arts class at UTSC is about to be completed. This past weekend was their last field trip to the area. A quick list of what we did. A gorgeous sunset paddle, a geology hike at Rush Cove with the wonderful Beth Gilhespy, a inspiring visit with Elder Justin Johnston,a hike with Ontario Nature near Sauble, an ice cream stop in Southampton, a stop at Southampton beach, a hike at Petrel Point Nature Reserve, and one last paddle before heading back to the city. We shared stories, laughter, amazing food and experienced a lot of cool nature stuff together. Good luck to the students on their final projects. I know they will be amazing. It was a definite pleasure to have met each of these students and wishing them all the best into the future.

What a busy couple of days. The Bagida’waad core field team (Christopher Akiwenzie, Dylan White & Nick Assad) did the field work for 5 property management plans for the Escarpment Biosphere Conservancy (EBC). We did bird, bat, frog, flora surveys and ecological land classification. It was amazing, fun and saw some new things which was cool.

What an amazing and fabulous visit to Bruce Peninsula Bird Observatory. Birds, hiking, exploring, cribbage games, good food, a dip in Georgian Bay, laughter, new bird for me was seen, lots of good memories revisited, photography, new friends, old friends, a beaver, water snakes and of course birds! It was a full three days and two nights but memories that will last a lifetime. Miigwech and hope to see you all again in the fall.
