Nova's Ark is a registered charity providing stimulating experiences for people of all ages and abilities involving a wide range of exotic, gentle animals. The volunteer peer mentors are a key factor in the successful integration of our visitors with the animals, allowing for unique and positive memorable experiences. Supported by private and corporate donations, Nova's Ark provides programs and activities that benefit the community in various ways. Nova's Ark has created many customized day visits, summer camp opportunities and off site presentations for service organizations, group home facilities and special event functions. The development of the youth leadership program has created an impact felt throughout the Durham community and various social service agencies.

We have been learning so much this week! We’ve started building Canada goose wings out of tree bark, spoke all about the importance that first responders play in our community (both humans and animals) and examined all of the different colours and textures of the fallen leaves. More learning continues tomorrow!

Our participants and mentors are always exploring the great outdoors together in so many unique ways during during "Out of the Box"!

We have been loving this beautiful fall weather! Our participants have been busy trying out new activities, making apple slime down in the forest and building so many meaningful connections. We’re so excited for more fall exploration to come!

Thank you to our friends at the Pet Valu Markham Steeles Center for hosting a fundraiser event for us, focusing on parrot food and toys! It was wonderful to connect with Lisa and Sharon, who are so passionate about helping animals. Thank you for being an advocate in the community and sharing our story!

We’ve had a great start to our week! Today we did some experimenting to see how we can change the internal temperature of an apple, continued flourishing our friendships and got started on our apple head doll projects. It was so nice to end the day with some gorgeous weather!

Our fall exploration has been amazing so far! A great highlight of our week was using different spices and fruits to create natural paint during Forest Program. Another truly fantastic week of "Out of the Box“!

Woohoo, another week of "Out of the Box“ is here! Our participants and staff are looking forward to more activities and opportunities to build on our creativity, social skills and teamwork!

One of our highlights this week was creating nature mandals in the forest and throwing them in the air to symbolize letting go of our worries! We also shared great conversations during group time and enjoyed many laughs together. Another wonderful week of “Out of the Box” in the books!
