Sunrise Developmental Support Services Registered charity that provides services for individuals diagnosed with developmental disabilities

Sunrise Youth Group was founded in 1991 by a group of high school students who wanted to ensure their peers with exceptionalities continued to enjoy recreational, social, and life skills opportunities after completing secondary school. Sunrise now offers a Day Program, Recreation Program and a Virtual Day Program to young adults and adults diagnosed with developmental disabilities in the Durham Region.

Our Day Program had an absolutely amazing time visiting the Oshawa Zoo 🦁!
We spent our morning visiting the animals and our members had the chance to feed some of them!
It was a truly unforgettable experience for everyone involved and we can't wait to go back and visit again soon!

Double the Brians, double the muscle! 💪🚚

We have to give a huge, well-deserved shoutout to a very special duo this week. Usually, our Recreation Program Manager, Alison, handles our volunteer appreciation posts—but since this crew includes her husband Brian and his friend Brian, we figured we’d step in so she didn't look totally biased! 😉

Thanks to an incredibly generous donation of office furniture from Independent Project Managers, Brian² stepped up to take on the heavy lifting. And when we say heavy lifting, we mean it! They:

🚚 Loaded up and transported all the new furniture

📦 Hauled our old office furniture out

🛠️ Assembled the new pieces seamlessly

📐 Positioned everything exactly where we wanted it

Not all heroes wear capes—some just come in pairs named Brian and drive a fully loaded truck!

A massive thank you to Independent Project Managers for the game-changing donation, and to the Brians for donating your time, muscle, and hard work to Sunrise. Our team is so grateful! ❤️

Giving back and making a difference! 🎒💙

Today, our Day Program had the opportunity to visit Operation Backpack and help support a wonderful cause in our community.

Operation Backpack provides backpacks and school supplies to children and youth in need, helping families with back-to-school costs across Durham region!

We’re so proud of our participants for getting involved, connecting with the community, and showing that every helping hand can make a big difference 💙✨
