As we refresh our Strategic Plan, we want to hear from the people who know our organization so well: our clients, caregivers, and volunteers.

Today, we were pleased to welcome Monique, Christine, and Erica from Honda Canada to our Food Services team. Their hard work packing Community Food Boxes will help ensure clients receive fresh, nutritious food through tomorrow’s deliveries.
We are incredibly grateful for their time, energy, and commitment to giving back.

WeConnect (formerly COPE Mental Health) is a 𝗳𝗿𝗲𝗲 community mental health service for people aged 16 and older. We offer group services that provide emotional support, connection with others, education, and strategies to help individuals care for their mental health and overall well-being.

WeConnect serves all of Durham Region with in-person and online support groups, workshops, and educational sessions.

There are lots of workshops coming up in November, so register today!

Did you know that more than 1 in 4 Ontario residents are caregivers, providing support to a loved one, friend, or neighbour? 💙

Caregiving can be incredibly rewarding, but it can also be demanding. When caregivers need a break, who is there to support them?

Community Care Durham’s Respite/Caregiver Relief Program provides caregivers with peace of mind, knowing their loved ones are receiving compassionate care while they take time to rest, recharge, or attend to their own needs.

Today is the final day of Meals on Wheels Week, and what a week it’s been! 💙

We’re incredibly grateful to Whitby MPP Lorne Coe, Regional Chair John Henry for Durham Regional Chair, Whitby Councillor Councillor Niki Lundquist, Centre Ward Community, and Ajax Councillor Nancy Henry. Councillor for taking time out of their busy schedules to help deliver meals and connect with members of our community.

Meals on Wheels is about so much more than food. It brings nourishment, wellness checks, and friendly visits to the people we serve. Thank you for helping us shine a spotlight on the impact this program has every day.

🍂🥕 The Mobile Food Market is heading indoors for the season! 🥕🍂

As the temperatures cool down, you can still stock up on fresh, locally sourced produce at Community Care Durham's Mobile Food Market. Beginning Wednesday, October 14, we'll be welcoming shoppers inside the main lobby of the Ajax Community Centre (75 Centennial Road) from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Looking for meal inspiration? Be sure to check out our Meal Kits, packed with ingredients to help you prepare a healthy and delicious meal at home. Our friendly team is always on hand to answer questions and help you shop.

Community Care Durham is excited to be part of the Scugog-Uxbridge Volunteer Fair on Sunday, October 25!

Hosted by the North Durham Chamber of Commerce and the Scugog Memorial Public Library, this event is a great opportunity to explore volunteer opportunities, meet local organizations, and discover how you can make an impact close to home.

📍 Scugog Memorial Library (Rotary Room)

With more than 15 volunteer organizations participating, there’s something for everyone. The event is open to people of all ages and abilities, so come out, connect with your community, and find a volunteer role that's right for you!

📍 Need help accessing food support and other community services? We're here for you!

Next week, the ID and Benefits Access Hub will be visiting the Ajax Public Library, Clarington Library, Museums & Archives, and Whitby Public Library to help connect residents with valuable programs and supports.

The Hub can assist with:

✅ Accessing local food support programs
✅ Applying for benefits and government programs
✅ Obtaining important government ID
✅ Connecting with housing and employment services
✅ Speaking with OW and ODSP staff
✅ Learning about health and transit services
✅ Tax filing assistance (by appointment for eligible individuals)
✅ And more!
